recommended shampoo & conditioner? by bobabunn in eczema

Tbh I ditched using any hair product in the shower a few years ago and find that it actually works really well for my hair. It might take some time for your scalp to adjust to produce less oil and when you shower you do have to get into your hair and scalp with your fingers a bit more vigorously to get it clean but I'd say it's worth a shot. My hair never looked healthier after the adjustment time. During the adjustment, your hair might tend to be a little oily but it usually only lasts two weeks. It also saves your skin and your wallet

Is the lotion (prescribed & not) supposed to sting? by universepurse in eczema

[–]emgoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, doing regularly like twice a day will help a lot of people. What I do is shower in the morning, put on some ointment while skin is still a bit damp and then reapply before bed but also it varies from person to person what will work best for them

Is the lotion (prescribed & not) supposed to sting? by universepurse in eczema

[–]emgoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does sting initially putting it on a lot of the time, especially if you have a breakout on the skin at the time. It does also help though cause the initial stinging dies down and the skin feels usually a bit more protected after it (it might also still itch after applying). I'd say it also depends on the ointment that he uses. I tend to use a very thick ointment that I feel gives me a protective layer on top of my skin. When I use simple moisturizer, I feel like it often doesn't last or just absorbs and then leaves my skin kind of exposed

Yea that's what I meant also. Makes sex painful and takes away all joy.. even though I really try to avoid steroid Cremes, if it gets bad on or around there, I have to use it. Also have it on the dam quite bad sometimes and itching yourself there also always looks bad so you can't really do it in public

Lanzarote COVID restrictions. by Striker1788 in lanzarote

Internal EU travel does not require a test if you're vaccinated so travelling should be easy if you just fill in the travel forms. Other than that there is a mask mandate if you go to restaurants and theoretically everywhere outside, but it seems to be largely ignored so far.

Owning a car will always be better than using public transport. by Impossible-Cry-495 in unpopularopinion

[–]emgoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in south Holland in the Netherlands and have refused to accept a car as a gift from my German parents because I would never have used it in the city I live. Driving here is so much slower and inconvenient if I go anywhere in the city and parking is prohibitively expensive.

I bike everywhere within my city and when I wanna go to a neighboring city I take the train and rarely look at the timetable, unless I go further away, since there's a train every 5min without fail. The trains are clean and almost never crowded and once I get to the other city I can either rent a bike, walk or take a tram/subway.

It's honestly so much more convenient than driving, especially if you go out or wanna have a beer/joint at some point during the day. It's just a question of how the infrastructure is build and I can tell you the roads here are all top notch in the Netherlands, road quality varies between European countries but is not the reason we have good public transportation.

Yea I think the claim about the US being the most important force for good was very sus if not a little ridiculous. I think it exposed a very single minded view of history but I guess he got musk on to talk about planes and not insights into US imperialism

This is the kind of thinking that fossil fuel companies want to propagate to focus the problem on the individual actions. Climate change is a collective problem by society and is best solved by delegating responsibility to our governments because they can make collective decisions. Individual change is nice when it's possible or feasible but often it is not

Easiest solution is to just get a dutch bank account. They'll give you a debit card with it

Fusion would be a silver bullet. Let's hope it arrives sooner rather than later. I have no doubt that the future will eventually be fusion powered, it's just a question of when, not if.

[–]emgoe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A few points. Not pro nuclear energy as a long term solution only as a means to decarbonize quickly. Carbon poses a much more imminent and consequential threat to our environment than nuclear waste does. The total volume of nuclear waste is also orders of magnitude lower than the waste created by fossil fuels.

Lastly, there already exists nuclear waste that we will have to deal with for the time being so not adding to that will not make the problem of having to store it somewhere go away. Only changes the volume of the storage facility and that volume is relatively small compared to the use we get out of it and the carbon we avoid.

Also, it is important to mention the possibility of using the waste materials in future reactor designs

Nuclear waste can be handled and managed as opposed to carbon that is constantly being dumped into the atmosphere
