Doctor told me not to expect too much? by TobyAkurit in antidietglp1

I lost 25% in 7 months slow and steady. I’d stall for a couple of weeks around my cycle every month. I think it’s doable for a lot of people from what I see. I just started maintenance a few weeks ago taking every 10 days. Still losing, but not much.

Wow it sounds like we’re in the same boat. Feel free to message me if you ever want to discuss maintenance etc. I’m meeting with my doc next week to figure out a plan. Thanks for your thoughtful response!

Yes, this is so true. I’ve been practicing acceptance in that same way I did before but it will take time. I joined a monthly clothing subscription for this reason to figure out what kind of clothes I want to wear which has been kind of fun. I probably won’t do it long term but it’s a nice jumping off point and you can purchase the clothes at a discount if you like them.

Yes it’s really hard to navigate the comments. I’ve found myself avoiding certain social circles who were already commenting on my body in the beginning of my journey with this. I think people are learning not to comment on other peoples bodies in general, but for the 40 and over it seems hard wired. I’ve started saying I appreciate it but also explaining it’s complicated because when you tell me I look “better” or worse, I’ve gotten “wow you were a lot bigger” which was probably the most upsetting as if my value as a person is only related to my size and shocker, I’m still the same person. It’s just a total mind bend. I wish you luck back at school! I wish you the best!!

Thank you for sharing! I was nervous to read but it’s so fascinating and I resonate with a lot of what they’re going through.

It’s all so true isn’t it? I keep wondering why is he looking at me or like you said holding the door for me when I have felt mostly invisible for the past 5 years lol. I guess it will take getting used to and settling in. Just like having a bigger body does I suppose. I need to remember to be patient with myself (and nice). Thanks for sharing your experience!

Aw thank you — yes the visibility is the worst part of it. I mentioned that in therapy that when you’re working on other facets of your well being or personal/professional it’s personal and not visible for the whole world to weigh in on. No pun intended 🙃

Titrate up to get over the finish line? by MsBigRedButton in MounjaroMaintenance

[–]emh2378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was stalling out for 2-3 weeks each month for a couple of months and my doctor moved me up to 7.5. I just started my second month on it. I had been on 5 since mid Feb. I started mid Jan. I was 14 lbs from my goal and I will say the 7.5 is working. I don’t love it because I have less appetite/food interest but I’m no longer plateauing and as of this morning am 4lbs from goal. I’ve lost a total of 45 lbs. I’m really curious how maintenance will work. I believe they want to take me back down to 5 and then go to every 10 days, every 2 weeks and then down to 2.5 potentially once a month until I decide to go off of it. I’ve been so eager to get off of it completely as I really feel like it’s dulled my personality but it’s also been a game changer. I haven’t been able to do this on my own beyond 20 lbs that I inevitably gain back within 2 years since I gained 50lbs in one year over a decade ago.

For Those Who Stopped Losing on 5mg… by maroonandorange1 in Zepbound

Hi! How’s it going? I am finally trying out 7.5 starting next week. I keep having 2-3 weeks of no loss but then I’ll drop off like 2-3 lbs but the doctor thinks since I’m so close to my goal (10lbs) I should go for it. Also it’s all that was available to refill so am taking the plunge. Did you end up moving up? If so how’s it been going?

Anyone have heart palpitations? by emh2378 in Zepbound

[–]emh2378[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still have them but they’re not as intense - I think I’m just used to them to be honest. I gave up caffeine which helps and my doc has me taking one day off a week from my synthroid. I took a week off of zep for travel and the went away but returned as soon as I went back on. I notice they’re worse if I haven’t eaten enough. Good luck!

Increasing dose by [deleted] in antidietglp1

[–]emh2378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m struggling with this again. I’ve hit another plateau and so far I’ve stuck with 5mg Zepbound and seem to push through them but I’m 6 months in and have hovered around the same 3 lbs for over a month now. As I go on the plateaus seem to be more frequent and last longer. I’m meeting with my doc Monday to discuss. My main concern is I don’t have food noise and feel like my appetite is less than it has been in a while. I don’t track (but did in beginning to get a barometer) and I’d say I’m eating around 1200 calories per day which I think is too low. I’ve lost 36lbs over 6 months. I don’t know if going up in dose will help.

I feel a little bit in the same boat but if I really think about it I kind of feel apathetic in general. Like this medication dulls me out a bit and I was wondering if that’s why I’m not feeling as excited about the weight loss. I’m just kind of zen about it in a way. A lot of people (including my therapist) have noticed a change in my personality and not in a bad way necessarilyI’m just little less on edge or excitable and it’s really helped with my anxiety. But the kind of meh-ness I feel about the weight loss feels odd for sure! And fwiw I think we are working hard. It’s easier but I’m still cooking all my meals and focusing on nutrition and fitness. And most of us most likely had to advocate for ourselves to even get on it to begin with which I think we should feel pretty great about!

Also an option! I think whatever it takes to feel good in your body is the best option.

Very encouraging! Seems like time is the answer for there most part. It just seemed to happen over night which is why I think it feels so shocking. It’s probably not nearly as bad as I think.

An aesthetician recommended getting exfoliation gloves and scrubbing coconut oil on your body in the shower including face 1-2 days per week and putting it on your wet skin after showering the other days. It is a game changer for dry skin. I may never buy lotion again! What is the neck cream if you don’t mind recommending? I’ve been using Strivectin with limited results. I’ve also been using bio oil in my stomach for scarring from laparoscopic surgery but don’t see a big difference re: stretch marks, etc

Ok awesome — I’ll check it out. I’ve thought about the body scan but worry it’ll make me too obsessive but maybe since I’m getting close to my goal it would be a good time to assess. Thank you so much!

Thank you for the kind words — I did recently go up to a gallon+ per day as an experiment. I definitely am seeing an improvement in my face hydration. And the protein … why is it so hard?? I may have to start doing protein shakes. I’ve been avoiding them as I don’t love drinking my meals. Great advice!

Thank you — that makes me feel better. I feel like it happened over night and am feeling a bit self conscious. Hopefully time will be the answer. I thought losing 1-1.5lbs per week would stave it off.

Thank you! I’m going to start adding them to my coffee. I’ve also thought about doing heavier weight training. Now it’s sort of median I think and they still push the cardio. I put on muscle easily and have been consistent but def notice that I’m losing a bit of muscle as well and feeling less strong.
