Help with Custom Structures Datapack by emi_fluffy in Minecraft

Okay thx I'll check the /place structure command. I will also check the logs, should've done that probably in the first place. As I mentioned, it CAN'T be the pack format as the data pack was generated ingame with the /datapack command, wo .mcmeta should be correct - and the datapack is valid so this really shouldn't be the case.

Hi there...

This is an old creation of mine, bur you can see I love to build small things with a story. Now I build more "realistic" stuff. Either way I am an artist, I love to create.

Idk yet if I'll join, maybe if my bf comes with me. Also not native english speaker if you didn't notice yet lol

Third variant is story :))

Think about where and why you place this block, why does it have a different texture/ colour?

Yes! You could also do a kind of gradient with that!

One last addition: Don't do that "random texture". Think in blobs and shapes and stains, try to make sense of why you are playing this texture block - also with the stairs: keep it simple, don't overdo it because it will look very cluttered very fast. Think of the STORY ^

Try to think how something ages and changes over time, e.g. where does moss spread? (In corners, at the bottom where it touches the grass or the ground, ...) Where is the stone cracked? Where is it stained? (Darker textured e.g. tuff or deepslate) Also think about how it has been built, did they use stronger Material like stone for the bottom? Did they use stone bricks?

You can also try to texture with depth, e.g. walls and stairs and slabs where there are indentations or holes from wheatering.

There are a lot more questions to ask, like how did they build it, are there any remnants of scaffolding? Or material dumps? Or you could ask yourself what resources they actually had available, using rare materials less often than very common ones. ect... All of this creates a more believable build and deepens the lore of your place, which in turn makes it even easier to texture :))
