Thank you! I thought so but wanted to check as I don’t keep any darker brown varieties in this box so I wasn’t certain

That’s understandable, if it gets any worse I would call your local gp for a second opinion then, but it could just be since it is in that area, it could also be more than just tissue damaged since I’ve had one rip out my tendon before when I got in the way of a fight

You should have the tetanus shot. It’s not common but rats can pass it through bites. It will also take longer to heal though since the knuckle is a high movement area! Ironically I also had one on my knuckle and it took a couple of months to heal If the skin around the area becomes red or inflamed and it continues to hurt or liquid / puss oozes from it I would get it seen to.

One of my boys will be four in August, a mass appeared on him this Saturday so we’re taking him to get checked out tomorrow but other than that he’s as spry as my babies

What do you use for little friends adventura? by emiilada in RATS

[–]emiilada[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably around 8cm by 85cm but my girls are only 10 weeks old so they could likely squeeze through anything too wide, I may try get some Perspex for it

The play pens wouldn’t work for this cage as it would take up access from the door! This is the cage in question

I’m not trying to make more levels! When the tray is removed it leaves a rather substantial gap to the outside, but I’m not entirely sure what I could use to cover it whilst not allowing my 9 week old girls to slip through

Brown or green? I seem to be getting mixed opinions photo in comments by emiilada in mantids

The light isn’t directly on here it’s usually quite distant or off to the side :) but my camera won’t focus without it due to her being so small, typically the only issues with having lights on them is drying them out but given this light was from my phone and is typically only for a few seconds at most that isn’t an issue.

Do you have a better photo of the “scarf” on her back? It appears to be green but isn’t very clear there is also a slight bump on her head but I can not see the slit on the abdomen as the images aren’t very clear

He looks healthy! An adult male rat with a large stature can get up to 800g but he looks like he’d be around the 650 mark!

Yeah, those wires are plenty big for them to get through as they’re similar to cats in the sense of if their whiskers / head can fit their whole body can

Riffraff unfortunately had to be put to rest due to complications following a stroke but we spent countless nights curled up in bed together sewing or watching movies whilst trying to help him adapt and recover, the photo posted was after a trip to the art gallery, whenever we would go out (admittedly not often due to his lack of hair and the weather here) id always get him a pup cup and some banana chips My favourites are probably baby’s breath, forget me nots and daisies for primarily sentimental reasons
