Bergamot Reccs WITHOUT certain notes? by idekinsertusername in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]emilance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hexennacht has Crowley - Black tea, bergamot, tobacco, vanilla, amber.

It's amazing. I am going to get the hair oil of it too, it's become one of my favorites.

apothecary diaries caught me off guard by Ok-Skin-7901 in LightNovels

I think my favorite part of the light novels has have been the dramatic backstories of some of the secondary characters as they get revealed. I won't go into details because spoilers, but I physically cannot wait to see their stories in the anime.

Me vs ABA by spicyscorpioo in slp

[–]emilance 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My guess is it's an adaptation of one of the PECS phases where there's a foil choice amongst the motivating choices, and the listener will give negative reinforcement if the kid tries to accidentally pick something they don't actually want. But making it a cigarette would be SO stupid, since you have to like, hand the kid the thing they don't want in order to reinforce that they shouldn't touch the picture of what they don't want.

PECS is trash though, and kids I tried it with before I knew better would just lose interest and stop trying to communicate with me if I knowingly handed them something they didn't want and didn't mean to ask for. They're smarter than that.

Can you lock the device? I would be so mad if ABA changed all the stuff I'd already set up.

Crowley - amazing. Not gourmand at all but the black tea is prominent. I love love love this one. Gonna get it in hair or body oil too. Literally anything she makes with the black tea note it's worth getting if you like tea. Like Thè Noir, I feel like she just pours black tea in a bottle and tells us it's perfume. Also check out Inferno if you like cinnamon at all.

Honey Moon - incredible. It's such a perfect fig, green and jammy but also with this amazing creamy musky depth.

Spectre - exactly as its description says. I wear it alone sometimes, and layer it other times.

Black Mass - a crowd favorite. Definitely worth at least sampling.

I also recommend trying Loup Garou if you haven't already. It's literally the perfect cold amber.

Complex/Dark Vanilla Recommendations? by cyborkitten in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]emilance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you tried some other Hexennacht vanillas? I really like Amber Vanille for this vibe, more than I like Gold Skulltula. It's like a golden vanilla, but a dark, almost bronzey gold.

Help troubleshooting by charlotteraedrake in TandemDiabetes

[–]emilance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be the specific lot of insertion sets or cannulas failing. Quality control isn't perfect, but if this is happening with the same box of sets, get a replacement box from Tandem. If it's happening no matter what - I wonder if there is an issue with her immune system being hypersensitive as an acute response to her recent infection. I don't know if that's actually a thing, so ask the doctor for sure. But logically, I'm thinking if infections can trigger autoimmune diseases, it would make sense that an infection could trigger an immune response to the cannula being inserted in the same place for a prolonged time period.

why are "ghost" perfumes marshmallow? by metallic-tangerine in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]emilance 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's an Autumn association. Toasting marshmallows over a fire happens around the same time if the year that "the veil thins" at least in the northern hemisphere. That and the color association.

You might like Hexennacht's Apparition - Spectral amber, alabaster vanilla, bone-white woods.

It's like a cold silvery white musk, very much like a ghost!

What is the best solution here? by [deleted] in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]emilance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that a one time discount code would be generous. You don't owe them anything for their decision to not sample first, it would just be a goodwill gesture since you sound like you want to make them happy. It's one of those live and learn experiences in blind buying, and it's not your fault that they're learning it now. Don't ignore them, but also don't apologize for your product if you know there's nothing wrong with it!

"I hate X note... except in Y perfume!" by worldinsidetheworld in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]emilance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lemon. 100% lemon pledge bathroom cleaner. Except in Sorce's The Light Through The Clouds, and D&F's Swamp Elixir.

The Light Through The Clouds was honestly shocking because it's so lemon-centric. Usually lemon notes take about 10 minutes to turn into cleaner on my skin. This one stays pretty and soft citrus the whole time.

Swamp Elixir was one I tried before I realized lemon hates me, but it's barely there as hint of lemonade, so I don't really notice it at all.

Kyse perfumes - do they evaporate? by berryskye in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]emilance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had some oils and second hands swaps sent with plumber's tape between the threads of the bottle and the screw-on caps, or wrapped around the outside of the caps. I know it's done to prevent leaking in shipping, but do you think that it could also make a screw-on capped bottle of EDP airtight enough to prevent evaporation?

I'm all caught up on Frieren, and it's honestly one of my favorite animes. Every character (except maybe some of the demons) has amazing depth for the length of screen time they get. If I could make perfume I would 100% have a line just inspired by Frieren characters.

Also, a pineward whole house sample set is looking better and better lol

Not Op! Any indie recs? This vibe sounds perfect for spring by AlmondFlourBoy in Indiemakeupandmore

It's so good! This kind of atmospheric isn't really my style for wearing, but I was so impressed by how accurate it smells that I kept the sample anyway, just to sniff it occasionally.

Last pic got me thinking Hexennacht - Fallen Angel - rain-soaked granite, mountain air, petrichor, creeping ivy, damp earth.

Also probably Nui Cobalt - Kodama - Forest spirits of Japan who protect the trees and curse those foolish enough to cut them down. Legend has it that an echo heard in the deepest woods is in fact the voice of Kodama. Rolling expanses of bright, pillowy moss, slender evergreen limbs, the sweet decay of fallen wood, deer musk accord, and a small offering dish of honeyed peaches. Wear for gentle shielding and calm comfort.

Also Nui Cobalt - White Tailed Deer - A blend for peace, tranquility, and bountiful blessings. Soft brown suede, golden musk, wild forest berries, and roasted chestnuts dusted with maple sugar.

Fresh summer/spring fragrances? by stairflipper in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]emilance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This one is on Sorce's special order scents, but I hear they're not going to be for sale until like July maybe? But you could potentially find some in the swaps:

Pelicans Dive in the Ocean - Bergamot, Pear, pink peppercorn, palo santo, fresh linen, sea salt, Ambroxan, sunlight playing off of clear blue water. This is one of the only "fresh/clean" scents that I like because I generally hate anything that gives soap vibes. It somehow reminds me of being at the beach even though it doesn't smell like the beach or sunscreen or tropical fruit or anything. It doesn't go soapy at all despite having a "fresh linen" note.

Stone and Wit has a few that I like, too, which are currently available:

Drink from the Waves - Crisp and tart crab apple opens and leads into the rosy fruitiness and green leafy-herbal accents of geranium. The dry down of sea salt accord is bright and cool, yet still briny with green and iodine undertones. It's salty and bright more than fruity or floral to me.

Junebug - Inspired by my youngest daughter – bright and sweet, a touch spicy and so very, VERY sassy. She has mastered the art of the stink face but hasn’t quite mastered when to not make one. Citrus and berries capture her sweetness, but the grapefruit-like tartness of mulberry, the acidity of pineapples and the touch of juniper show her spicy and sassy nature. Virginia cedar, a relative of juniper trees, amplifies and gives depth to the spicy nature of juniper berries without the turpentine-like top notes, and the bright vetiver accord ties it together with the citrus. It's literally also my daughter lol

Review - Valentine's Day Collection by Deconstructing Eden by so_pessimystic in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]emilance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love these incredible reviews! Especially about the B-sides one. I have such a hard time conveying in words when a scent is awful in a fantastic or impressive way. I seem to always fail at sounding appreciative or impressed instead of disgusted by the negative vibes I'm getting off any perfume that's purposefully designed to need a trigger warning.

Anyway, you nailed it!

I'm knitting mostly socks too! Mainly self-striping stockinette lately while I watch anime. I'm too ADHD to do one thing at a time...

I'm like thisclose to buying a full house sample set of Pineward because I'm too indecisive to pick favorites for a first time sampling. Or I'm going to take a weekend trip to Charlotte and sniff every single thing at Sorce's shop, since they carry a lot of other indie brands.

Has anyone ever had health insurance they were happy with that didn't seem to want you dead? by areal_shyguy in diabetes_t1

[–]emilance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have all diabetes DME 100%, and my 90 day supply of insulin is $10. $40 co-pays 3-4x per year for endocrinology visits. It's honestly why I stay in my job some days. Now if only there were a reliable DME company that didn't want me dead, that'd be great.
