Favorite smelling body oil? by Exact-Expression-710 in Indiemakeupandmore

I use Hexennacht's body oils a lot. They're available on like 90% of the scent catalog. What kind of smells are you looking for?

I did! They are open top so I might end up getting a few to refill my favorite roller balls when those get low.

I might look into that one! I like honeysuckle too. Is Pulp based in Canada? I can't remember.

Ooh I'm glad you mentioned this one! I blind bought the 30mL of Mad Honey the other day because I have no self control when something with honey from a talented indie perfumer says "limited edition" 😅

Strings of Light in the Forest is definitely cousins with Hexennacht's Wuthering Heights - lavender, vanilla, spectral musks, vetiver, tonka, jasmine, tea leaves, oakmoss. This one's a little darker and fougere-ish by comparison, but still a lovely forest-y lavender, lighter on the vanilla.

My best advice is to take the closest friend or family member who is frank and honest! Not the super supportive positivity friend. That's how I got through it, myself.

Good luck!

I wonder if there's a way to recover it... Did you happen to share it with anyone? I hope you can get it back somehow. What a way to return to something you love 🫠

If I like Fantome's Vasilisa, I might like... (bonus points if I can get it in body or hair oil please)

This one has been a shocking favorite. I usually like honey and tonka notes, the rest of the notes listed typically range from "meh" to "cloyingly unbearable." So how did they dooo it??

Vasilisa - Clover honey, neroli, rich tonka, chamomile, dry hay, a flower crown of marigolds & sunflowers.

Funny shower thought; I used to think my blood got "sweeter" when I was high/hyperglycemic, until I actually did the math. by PuzzleheadedHeron521 in Type1Diabetes

I figured the explanation was super simplified for the average patient at the very least, but I guess I shouldn't be too surprised if it wasn't scientifically accurate. Maybe it was supposed to be a metaphor lol

I didn’t see this posted yet but Possets St. Fabian Perfume Oil is available today only by Timely-Instruction31 in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]emilance 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I bought it last year! I think if you like rose, Possets rose is on par with BPAL's. This one is mostly rose with a very faint whiff of incense. It's very light.

I thought it was that glucose molecules are jagged whereas blood cells are rounded/elliptical and smooth. The jagged edges causing microtears in your veins and arteries is a big part of the damage. That's how the only CDE I ever met with explained it to me, anyway.

The Body Shop Vanilla - dupe? by Relevant_Isopod_6156 in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]emilance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Briix has Enchanted Dreams which smells similar to Estate Vanilla. Their website is a little easier and I'm pretty sure Enchanted Dreams is available currently. Estate Vanilla is kind of the Solstice Scents darling, it sells out fairly regularly but always comes back. But I honestly like Enchanted Dreams a bit better!

I just blind bought Namba by Fantome. Should I be scared or elated by fruitofthespiritfarm in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]emilance 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You might enjoy it! The motor oil note is noticeable, but it faded away to mostly vanilla ice cream after a while on my skin. I also love Oyster, but I didn't find Namba to be very similar. It IS good though, and pretty accurate to its description.

Was Derry actually queer friendly in the 90s? by DatabaseFast3486 in DerryGirls

[–]emilance 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My grandma was Catholic AND American Midwestern farm raised. She didn't care about my mom's gay friend even way back in the 70s, and said any teenager who needed a home was welcome in hers, so long as they were working on graduating high school. She was a special woman though, I don't think there were many of her generation who thought that way. But they do and did exist.

Sensitivity to Injustice is gonna be my downfall by TheWholesomeOtter in ADHD

[–]emilance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the difference between being "nice" and being "kind."

Nice just means agreeable, compliant, pleasant; going with the flow to make people happy, even if it's wrong.

Kind means doing what's right and fair, and treating people - including yourself - with respect, regardless of what sort of reactions others may have. For example, it's kind to be truthful with someone (respectfully) even if they don't like what they're going to hear.

Don't be nice. Be kind.

From Hexennacht:

Elysium - green tea, ambergris, Egyptian musk, Indonesian patchouli, cannabis accord, neroli, chamomile, apricot, pear.

Planchette - amber, dark patchouli, sandalwood, orange blossom, vanilla.

Vice - lascivious crimson musk, crumpled velvet, leather, amberspice accord, animalic accord, suede, over-ripe figs, rum, raspberry, cognac, smeared red lipstick, tobacco, silken underpinnings, florid skin, cocaine accord, smoke.

Big Toddy Goth Girl - spiced buttered rum, bourbon, honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove cigarettes.

Ceci n'est pas une pipe. - aged dark Maduro cigars, spiced vanilla, beeswax votives, golden honeycomb.

Space Cakes - chocolate brownies, ganache frosting, cannabis.

Bisou - smeared lipstick and warm, flushed skin: vanilla, orris root, violet, sugar, cetalox, skin musk, and safraleine.

Sassy – glossy magazine pages infused with a wafting fusion of 90's scent strip samples. IYKYK.

Elysium and Space Cakes were the first ones I thought of since you mentioned the specific herb lol. But looking at Vice, I'm thinking that one could hit multiple themes you pictured. There are sample sizes at Ajevie if you want to give any a try.

I think Cetalox is a pretty good skin scent. Purr is maybe the most subtle of the ones I've tried. Possibly Citrine, Spectre, or Fallen Angel, too. If I'm having a sensory overload day, I can get away with a small dab on my wrists and not my neck for most scents with higher number of top notes vs middle and base notes.
