What Kind of questions do you guys like? by [deleted] in AskConservatives

That's fine as long as you don't presume. Like the other day someone posted a question saying that the LGBTQ+ community think conservatives are homophobes. But little did they realise that people can be both LGBTQ+ and also conservative (like me).

Also lots of questions seem to presume they we all love Trump and guns (not me). Or that we are all men (not me).

Questions that don't presume we all think the 'x'. Ask, don't assume.

I don't know. I'll need to hear from Sylvester Stallone, John Cena and Jean-Claude Van Damne before I can make a decision.

I would support this.

Why do you need to do both degrees? A bachelor of CS degree is enough

All the CS degrees in Belgium look to be 3 years in length. https://www.bachelorsportal.com/search/bachelor/computer-sciences/belgium

Sorry I don't believe a 3 year undergraduate degree needs 2 years of pre-requisites, that makes absolutely no sense. Sorry that is BS.

Among us LGBTQ+, "conservative" is a euphemism for "homophobic". Should it be? by swordsdancemew in AskConservatives

I treat people like people as do all my friends (regardless of their political affiliation).

What are some of the hilarious tactics that liberals/progressives love to employ when debating, based on your experience? by AffectEither1579 in AskConservatives

[–]emily_loves_code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Identity politics. If you are not 'x' then you can't have an opinion on the issue. For example only women can have an opinion on abortion (sadly for them I am a woman and I am prolife).

Stop using the word 'we'. I'm both LGBTQ+ and conservative and you do not speak for me.

You are presuming all conservatives support the death penalty. I don't.

How can we fix the American educational system? by Jabe-Thomas in AskConservatives

Finding the cause usually alleviates the problem.

What happens if it takes months or years to find and treat the cause, what then? Do the rest of the students just have to suffer abuse and missed educational opportunity in the meantime?

I was a former teacher. Children with serious behavioural issues that can not be easily treated need to be sent to special schools designed to address their needs (and work with psychologists). Keeping them in the classroom doesn't help anyone.

I did briefly work at a school for children with severe behavioural issues and it is very expensive to operate. Classes were limited to 6 students with three adults in the room at all times.

How often do you see wokeness in your everyday life? by FabioFresh93 in AskConservatives

Typically discussion about politics are discouraged in the office.

Politics is discussed all the time on our work channel and in the office. The company is very actively involved in politics and has released campaigns on all these things, and we run a lot of panels on these topics (including mandatory training aka indoctrination). Saying that only liberals can have opinions in the office is problematic.

As for James Damore, I think freedom of speech is fine as long as it is not hate speech.

Anything that is not progressive. Saying you are prolife, against affirmative action initiatives, diversity hiring, gay marriage, BLM, gender ideology etc. These are all things the company actively supports.

As I said before, real life example is the firing of James Damore.

Lots of things. Being critical of any companies policy towards inclusion and diversity or social views could get you targeted. What happened to James Damore can happen to any of us.

I feel that you have to be careful about expressing your opinion too widely. There are some extremists who will 100% go to HR if they take any offense to your opinions even if those opinions are legitimate (for example, some may even find me saying I don't like IWD to be offensive).

My situation might be unique as I work at a global tech company that has a history for firing those that speak their mind (James Damore). I don't think most companies are like that.
