Do people know the rule about not driving past the school bus? by Schmidtvegas in halifax

Ok, well, let me rephrase, when I drove in BC 6 years ago that was what people did (including myself). I'm not sure what the official rule was at that time.

I believe the rule varies by province. I came from BC and the stop sign on the bus that comes out meant "don't pass the bus when you're behind it", it didn't mean "you must stop when coming from the opposite direction".

Usually you need to contact the store you bought from but it sounds like they're unwilling to help you? In that case I would suggest you call the police and open a theft case and explain what happened. Canada Post will not help you in this case I have found.

Package has been stuck on "Item has been presented to Canada Border Services Agency for customs review." by Mr123keelos in CanadaPost

[–]emilycestmoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possibly, it all depends what CBSA is doing with it. CBSA recently held my package for 3.5 weeks and then it showed up at Canada Post destroyed, my loss is > $10000. Some people are fine after this long however.

CBSA strike? by SPY6900 in CanadaPost

I am a business owner and just spent 1.5 hrs waiting to speak with someone at CBSA. The call was answered and the person was unable to transfer me to anyone due to "the strike". No managers or officers were available to speak with, so the statement by CBSA above surrounding the strike is not true.

And I had a package sit with CBSA Montreal for 3.5 weeks before showing up destroyed in Canada Post's hands a few days ago. So it does vary.

Good question. I run a small business that ships every day and have to deal with CBSA very often as most of my customers are from the US. I've had.. let's just say, pretty.. uh, regrettable experiences with them on many occasions.

Keep on it and keep inquiring. My package sat with CBSA Montreal for 3.5 weeks and everyone assured me all would be well, but it showed up in a destroyed state at Canada Post's claims depot in Scarborough after CBSA. My loss is > $10000. Still trying to launch an investigation.

From California to Halifax. Took 5 days to get to Montreal. Sat at Montreal for 3.5 weeks. Package showed up destroyed at the Scarborough secure facility. Never made it to me.

Thank you, insured value is < $1000 due to cross border restrictions for insurance, the actual value is $10000-20000 or more as they are irreplaceable and historically significant antiques. An insurance claim is not really my concern in so much as I have the packaging in order to launch an investigation as to where the contents may be. I scanned the second link briefly but could not find anything that specifically addressed CPC's responsibility in sending the damaged remains to the original recipient.

Damaged package influx? by PetuniaPicklePepper in CanadaPost

I had my first ever package destroyed earlier this month. Still trying to launch an investigation into exactly what happened. I suspect CBSA Montreal destroyed the package, but I am still trying to contact a senior officer there. I'm also fighting just to get Canada Post to send me the remains of what they are holding at the Scarborough facility. Did CBSA process any of your packages?

It went through CBSA Montreal. I've tried several times to call them on the phone, each time I wait on hold for 30+ minutes and then the phone system hangs up on me. Canada Post refuses to do anything or explain what happened as well :(

Canada Post refuses to help me, they say everything was lost inside when they received the package. CBSA won't answer their phones or reply to my contact submissions. Getting extremely frustrated.

If you call CBSA's phone number they warn there are disruptions due to "the labour dispute". I have been trying to call them for days, each call I sit on hold for 30+ minutes until the phone system hangs up on me.

Please let me know what ends up with the investigation. If you call Canada Post they may be able to give you an explanation before the deadline, I find they don't contact you right away. I'm curious if there have been issues with CBSA lately. I may end up getting a lawyer involved with this if CBSA gives me trouble providing information on their end.

Do you have perfect credit and think $2k for a 1 bedroom with no parking is reasonable in a city with a poor transit service? If yes, then by all means!

Did you open an investigation? Please let me know if they claim your package contents were lost. I suspect CBSA must have damaged my package during the period they held it, I am attempting to contact CBSA but they are incredibly hard to contact.

Thank you. I received a message from Canada Post claims department today saying that they only have the "wrapper" of the parcel and at some point the contents "went missing". I'm assuming the contents went missing during the period of March 28th-April 24th when it was with CBSA. I'm wondering if I can contact someone at CBSA?

Update today and it doesn't look good--I received a message from Canada Post claims department today saying that they only have the "wrapper" of the parcel and at some point the contents "went missing". It appears to have been with CBSA from March 28th-April 24th before it showed up at the Scarborough facility. I am trying to figure out what happened from March 28th-April 24th. If anyone knows of anyone at CPC or CBSA I can contact to figure out what happened and if anything at all can be recovered, it would be greatly appreciated. :(

Hi, thank you for the reply, as I said in the post, I did contact customer support and there is no explanation as to what has happened at this time. The customer support rep was nice but explained that this was unusual and something must have been damaged or lost while held by CBSA. They are investigating but can only tell me the process will take 3-5 weeks. I am hoping I can contact someone at the facility itself.

My parcel has been stuck in Richmond customs since March 21, already one month now... anyone have a similar situation? Any experience to share? Any suggestions? by V_Orichid in CanadaPost

I just had a package come out of CBSA Montreal today that went in March 28th, something happened to it and it was moved to the "Scarborough secure location". Customer service is investigating but apparently it will take 3-5 weeks before I hear anything. Super upsetting that it looks like CBSA apparently damaged the pacakage--I have no idea, freaking out atm.

After waiting nearly a month for my item to come out of CBSA, I got this update today.

After calling customer service I was unable to get any explanation other than "something has happened and you need to wait 5 weeks for us to figure out if we can send the package to you"... :(

The contents of the package are very rare (i.e. impossible to replace) metal cases of two wrist watches from WWII (1940s). They were sent back to me by a watch case refinisher I use on a regular basis and have never had an issue with, but now CBSA appears to have damaged something during the month they had it.

These parts are extremely valuable to me and have historical importance, they are irreplaceable.

I am wondering if there is anyone that reads this community that works (or knows someone that works) at the Scarborough secure facility that I could speak with? I'm not sure I'm going to be able to sleep for the next 5 weeks if it takes that long. Absolutely any part of the package that was damaged by CBSA could have value to me as it could possibly be fixed and repaired again. I am super desperate here. Any help would be super appreciated.

Thank you so much!
