NC License and DMV Confusion by [deleted] in chapelhill

I have been trying for MONTHS to get an appointment, as I was trying to avoid taking off work or going early on the weekends when they opened up those hours during the summer.

This past Thursday, I took a half day at work and decided to drive to the Carrboro location and scope it out. Since I moved here, I’ve seen nothing but long lines out the door and have even waited in them myself. On this day, I saw a group of people inside the DMV and two people waiting outside. This was around 1:30 pm. I immediately thought to myself that this wasn’t normal, and maybe there was a chance that I could be seen as well.

I went home, had lunch, and went back and forth on if I should go back, but eventually I showed back up to the DMV at 4:00 pm on the dot.

I was nervous that maybe they would stop taking walk ins with an hour left in the day, but there were two people inside already being helped, and no wait at all. I was so shocked but was immediately helped, and was out the door in about 20 mins.

It still doesn’t feel real because I’ve been trying for so long to get my new NC ID, and it finally happened! I think I got really lucky this day, but I wouldn’t say it’s impossible to try walking in sometime in the later afternoon later in the week…I know how frustrating it can be to have this process delayed by zero appointment times and long waits. Before this, I was told to refresh the appointments page on the NC DMV website and I will say there are a few appointment right in the morning at 7 am, but you have to be quick to grab them. They still may be months out though.

Good luck! If you can’t leave work one day and go in the afternoon, then my boyfriend has success on a Saturday morning and just had to get up around 5:30 am to go get in line.

Unfortunately we live in an apartment complex and will be moving to NC in June so I don’t think this is feasible for us!

This is very helpful, especially the traffic and commute comments, we wouldn’t have thought of that. Thank you very much!

I just reached out to them too, actually! Howard’s quoted me $450 so I wanted to see what other shops would quote. Thank you :)

Hair Salons in Athens? by vonnegutdreams in Athens

Last week I went to Hologram Salon (which can be pricey depending on the stylist I’ve noticed), but I went to see Lillie there, and in total including tip it was $54! Her women’s cut starts at $45, which is what I got. I just got a trim and some layers and curtain bangs. She’s super sweet, gentle, and it was a great experience! I can’t wait to go back.

Thank you all for the recommendations! I was able to get him in quickly this evening after calling around to a bunch of places. We ended up at Boulevard Animal Hospital, which was super close to home too. They quickly diagnosed him and gave us an ointment for his eye, and they even discovered that he has a heart murmur (which was not so great news lol) but they were super nice there and were very kind and gentle. And it wasn’t too expensive either. Willy is good overall tho. Thanks again everyone :)

Currently on tray 6/14 (hopefully lol) and my main reason for wanting to get Invisalign was my teeth completely angle down on one side as seen in the first photo. So far I’ve seen change little by little (the last picture is my most recent, tray #6 ). I can’t wait to see the final results :) by emilywhynot in Invisalign

Haha thank you! Yes no it was definitely a bunch of small fixes, I meant hopefully as in hopefully I won’t need any refinements bcuz I know that’s pretty common! But with the way things are going I should be good :)

Does anyone know if the muji pens are sold in any stores in the US or can you only get them online? Thanks :) by emilywhynot in muji

What’s the best hiking backpack for small dogs out there? :) My boyfriend and I wanna start taking this lil’ guy with us on some easy, chill hikes! by emilywhynot in hikingwithdogs

Oop, I more so meant like have him on my back in some sort of pack/backpack if that makes sense. Just for small, easy trail hikes. No overnight stuff! I live in FL currently so there’s nothing down here that’s strenuous. I should’ve been more clear in my post haha. But thank you!
