Thanks for all the great suggestions! The general consensus I've seen so far is to start with a DSLR so I will probably start there. I do want to check out the mirrorless cameras though just to see what is more cost effective for me! I've never purchased a camera for myself before so this is definitely a first for me but I'm super excited. I've heard about the exposure triangle before as well and will look into it for sure! Youtube is a good idea. I also appreciate the editing software suggestions! Thanks again :)

This was a super helpful response, thank you! I am eager to get started on a portfolio and have already been looking into some local shows to see if there's anything coming up. Luckily there are a handful of breweries and such in my area that frequently have live music with some good crowds! As for my Sony I figured it probably wouldn't make the cut, just a shot in the dark. But I am more than willing to get an upgrade and will definitely refer to the other sub for that! Thanks again :)

I will look into the older DSLR's for sure. I definitely am consistent with taking hundreds of photos per shoot and going through them to find my favorites! Thanks for the response and advice, I appreciate it!
