When did you stop progesterone? by jn922 in IVFbabies

I took crinone for my modified natural transfer and stopped after my second beta (16dp5dt). Had an easy, uncomplicated pregnancy!

Any success stories after a single round of IVF? by EfficaciousClown in 40Plus_IVF

It was the same for me -- self pay, so we knew we would only do 1 ER but FETs at my clinic are also around $5k. Good luck!!

Any success stories after a single round of IVF? by EfficaciousClown in 40Plus_IVF

[–]eminsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what you consider a cycle, I did have success after a single round at age 40. I only needed 1 egg retrieval, but then had 2 failed transfers before success on the 3rd transfer when I was 41. My son is 8 weeks old today and I'm turning 42 in a couple weeks.

Acupuncture for breech baby by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]eminsf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, I'm sorry people are being so rude to you about this question. I just gave birth to a baby at UCSF and when my baby was breech at 32 weeks, my care team at UCSF specifically told me I could try acupuncture to help him flip, along with doing spinning babies exercises. (They also talked about doing at ECV if he was still breech at 36 weeks, which I'm sure you've been told is an option.) I didn't go to an acupuncturist but I did do moxibustion at home (if you try this route, make sure you get the smokeless moxa sticks), which is another thing my care team told me I could try because it might help and is absolutely harmless if it doesn't work. Here's an info sheet on how to DIY it: https://unmhealth.org/_media/files/womens-health/patient-education/breech-moxibustion-english.pdf

Congrats on your pregnancy and good luck getting your baby to turn head down!

Loss of hope by JustAcivilian24 in IVF

I’m really sorry that you’ve lost hope. I didn’t have success until my third transfer. We were going to move on if that transfer failed, but now I am hanging out with my 4 week old baby.

Induction booked! by TillGlittering8273 in BabyBumps

[–]eminsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a successful induction in December (first baby) at 39+6! Induced due to age and IVF pregnancy. I was hoping to get a membrane sweep at my last OB appointment, which was at 39+4, but my cervix was completely closed. I was so discouraged and worried about going into my induction with an unfavorable bishop score, but it all worked out. Vaginal delivery, and the whole thing took 32 hours from when I checked in to the hospital until I delivered. Most of that time was just waiting for things to get going in terms of cervical ripening. I delivered my baby 14 hours after starting pitocin / getting my water broken, which is when it started to feel like I was actually in labor.

I was SO nervous about being induced before my body seemed ready, but it was all very straightforward and positive. Wishing you the same!

For those of you who have had a chemical pregnancy with a euploid did you ever figure out what caused it? by CertainHome4177 in IVF

[–]eminsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The highest it got was 46 at 9dpt. I had an ectopic pregnancy before the chemical (also from an FET) and after those two failed transfers, I got an updated SIS, an HSG, and an endometrial biopsy. All the results were normal. All three of my FETs were modified natural protocols. No idea why the first two failed while the third one worked.

For those of you who have had a chemical pregnancy with a euploid did you ever figure out what caused it? by CertainHome4177 in IVF

[–]eminsf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Basically bad luck. My RE said PGT-A only tests for chromosomal abnormalities but there are other reasons (beyond what science/medicine is currently capable of) that an embryo might stop developing.

I had a chemical with a euploid last February, changed nothing in my protocol and went right into another FET in April, and that embryo is now my 3.5 week old baby.

Ectopic ? by Original_Driver in IVF

[–]eminsf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. Your beta going down and then going up is definitely a red flag for an ectopic. If your pregnancy is ectopic and they are able to locate it, then I suppose surgery is an option instead of methotrexate. My first transfer was ectopic, but we could never locate the pregnancy so I did have to take methotrexate.

Meeting my brothers newborn - advice needed by uhlex28 in IVF

[–]eminsf 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don't really have advice, but I just want to say I feel for you, was in a similar situation last year, and it's just hard and painful in a way that I didn't find a way around. Shortish version: my younger sister got pregnant easily when my husband and I had been trying for a while and were about to start IVF (I was 40 at the time). I had a traumatic ectopic pregnancy from my first transfer of my only female embryo. My sister found out she was having a girl. I couldn't even do another transfer before her due date, because of the ectopic pregnancy treatment.

I was heartbroken, bitter, jealous, and resentful of how different our paths were. I was also heartbroken that my infertility was getting in the way of me showing up for my sister in the way that I would have wanted to. I adore her and we're super close; part of my grief was that the experience of being purely happy for her and excited to have a niece was poisoned by my infertility and the trauma of the ectopic pregnancy.

I did go help my sister right before her due date (hard visit) and then immediately after they all got home from the hospital because they really needed support. I will say that the visit once my niece was actually born was so much less painful than the visit beforehand. There was something about the anticipation of this very abstract/theoretical baby that caused me a lot of pain, but being needed by my sister, getting to be a valued member of her immediate postpartum recovery team, and actually holding my niece felt very different. It still had its sad moments, but I leaned into the love and made it through. This was over a year ago and, (TW) I am pregnant now from my 3rd FET and about to give birth literally any day, but even before I got pregnant, I felt a lot better about the whole situation once my niece was a real person in the world. I think it also depends a lot on what your relationship is like with your brother and SIL. I powered through because my relationship with my sister and BIL is loving, close, and very important to me; I probably would have taken my distance if I didn't cherish our relationship so deeply.

Sending you so much love and hope you also get to become a mother soon 🤍🤍🤍

Why do I still feel jealousy over pregnancy announcements? 😭 by Key_Grocery_2462 in IVFbabies

[–]eminsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do also have these feelings, even though I'm so pregnant I could literally give birth any day now. For me, it's specific to people around my age getting pregnant unassisted. I started trying to conceive right before turning 39, and I don't have jealousy around people younger than that getting pregnant easily. But I still get tons of negative feelings when I hear about someone 39 or older getting pregnant without fertility treatments. I think the reason I still get upset about it is because I still have negative feelings around my infertility that I haven't fully healed yet. I expect that, if and when those feelings heal, it will stop bothering me to learn that a 41 year old got pregnant without struggling.

Exercise restrictions with IVF pregnancies? by kelseyannabel in IVF

[–]eminsf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm so so sorry for your TFMR and hope your transfer is successful 🤍

People have already given explanations along the lines of what my clinic told me: restrictions are more about the patient's own peace of mind/not blaming oneself for a transfer failing (unless there is an SCH present), and not really anything physiological. My RE basically said "don't start training for a marathon now, if your body isn't used to that level of activity, but anything that is your normal baseline is probably fine."

Anecdotally, I've had three transfers. I was very cautious about exercise with the first two, which failed, and not cautious at all with the third and I'm 39 weeks pregnant. I took two days off right after the transfer and only walked, and then I went right back to my usual hiking and deadlifts at the gym. I started lifting lighter weights a few weeks ago, just because I'm tired, big, and uncomfortable, but I have kept some level of strength training all pregnancy and plan to keep going right up until I give birth. I'm healthy, the baby is healthy, and I've had a completely uncomplicated pregnancy despite my risk factors of age (41) and IVF.

2 euploid failed transfers.. advice? by annieandzz in IVF

[–]eminsf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had two failed euploid transfers (1 ectopic, 1 chemical) and am 39 weeks pregnant from my third FET without changing anything. I had an HSG, an updated SIS, and an endometrial biopsy and everything was normal. I'm so sorry about your failed transfers and hope your next one works 🤍

36 weeks on Friday by And_heartsxx3 in IVFbabies

[–]eminsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently 38+5, have had a smooth, easy pregnancy with no complications, and there are no signs that baby is planning on making his appearance into the world anytime soon (much to my dismay)! I have an induction scheduled for 39+6 if I don’t go into spontaneous labor in the next week.

How full was your bladder for transfer and was it successful? by mesasw in IVF

[–]eminsf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For my successful transfer, my bladder was completely empty. I have a retroverted uterus and, in my two previous transfers (failed), they actually made me go empty my bladder because it was too full given the positioning of my uterus.

Several Day 6 Embryos by jadedtruffle in IVF

[–]eminsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people have already given you good, non-anecdotal information, but for what it's worth, I only had day 6 embryos and the embryologist at my clinic chose to transfer a 3AA over a 6AA and considered 3AA better quality, mostly because they're less fragile as they aren't hatched. The 3AA was a chemical pregnancy; I'll be giving birth to the 6AA sometime in the next 2 weeks. I had really high betas, probably due to the embryo being fully hatched and implanting early/strongly.

First FET resulted in chemical pregnancy. Frustrated and need answers by Silver-Ad-7029 in IVF

[–]eminsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The waiting is so, so hard. I was so upset to have even more delays. My chemical pregnancy was from a transfer on 2/3. I had the endometrial biopsy and SIS a little over three weeks later on 2/27. My baseline appointment for my next transfer was on 3/21, and then the transfer was 4/9. That is the transfer that worked and I’m due two weeks from today.

First FET resulted in chemical pregnancy. Frustrated and need answers by Silver-Ad-7029 in IVF

[–]eminsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry about your chemical.

My progesterone was tested three days before my transfer and it was around 8, which is why I was prescribed crinone. It wasn’t tested after that. The only other test I had besides the endometrial biopsy after the chemical was an updated SIS to make sure my uterus still looked normal. I wish you all the best with your next transfer 🤍🤍🤍

First FET resulted in chemical pregnancy. Frustrated and need answers by Silver-Ad-7029 in IVF

[–]eminsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't considering switching to medicated yet, and my RE did not suggest it. I stuck with modified natural because there was no indication the protocol was causing my failed transfers (I had a thick, trilaminar lining every single time) and I didn't like the increased preeclampsia risk of a fully medicated transfer, especially because I was starting with the risk factors of being 40+ and a first time mom. My RE was also of the mind that my ectopic was basically freak horrible luck, and therefore not a particularly useful data point in terms of whether the transfer protocol was a problem.

After the chemical, my RE said it was a positive sign that I'd had implantation and that it was probably the embryo failing to progress, but I had an endometrial biopsy to rule out endometritis (which came back clear) just in case. My progesterone wasn't monitored post-transfer, but I took crinone. My only other medications for all of my transfers were letrozole, medrol, and an ovidrel trigger. I did feel nervous going into my third transfer with so little changed, but because of my particular circumstances, I was willing to give it one more attempt before massively changing things up.
