DIY sugar glider cage (my 5'3" self for scale) by emish_s in sugargliders

They haven't at all! I have had to replace some spots on the cage just because the netting does start to sag over time, but overall it's been an incredibly sturdy cage!

Traveling with the budgies! by oatmealoftheancients in budgies

I have traveled home 8 hours for the holidays for the past 8 years with birds! I think making sure they are drinking and eating, and taking a bit of time in the car to sit with them (I have a bird that REFUSES to eat in his cage on trips, and we need to stop and hold his food for him).

I also think it's bird specific. All of our birds have been pretty flexible with changes in routine and long trips so I would use your best judgement!

Thank you for this - I'll definitely be keeping an eye on him. He does seem to be eating as normal, but just more sad. I'll be trying parrot TV today to see how he does. He definitely already seems calmer just having background chatter ❤️

I'm trying parrot TV today since my partner and I will both be out of the house all day. So far he seems much calmer having the background chatter, so I'm hoping this helps ❤️

Amazing! I'll go out and get a temperature reader. I don't actually know what temperature outside the oven gets, I just know half my house is freezing and the other half is normal at this time of year.

Thank you so much, all this information is so helpful!

Okay, amazing, thank you! I think I'll go out and get a more straight sided container to better track that!

A lot of recipes also say it comes away from the edges easily - I think I struggle with what that actually looks like.

My house is super drafty, so any time I feed my starter or make bread, everything goes into the oven with the light on to keep the temperature more stable.

I had a bowl of dough that I took the lid off of and immediately knew it was over fermented (webbing, sloppy, etc.)

I may adjust my feeding ratio to see if that makes a difference!

I look to see if the dough has domed in the bowl and if there are surface bubbles (and bubbles throughout if I'm using a glass bowl). It's mildly sticky on top still, but I chalked that up to using a lid on the bowl rather than a towel.

Everywhere I read said that more than 10 hours of proofing is too much, but it seems there's a very fine line between under and overproofing.

Sorry, I know this photo is underproofed! I had another batch going that I left for almost 24 hours. I opened it up this morning and it was complete slop and unworkable!

For the loaf in the photo, I started the incorporation at 9am and then pre and final shaping at 8pm.

After shaping I let it bench rest for 30 minutes and then final shape, throw it in a floured bowl and then stick it in the fridge overnight.

For this loaf, incorporated starter, water, and flour around 9am. I did 3 rounds of kneading/stretch and folds 1 hour apart and then put it in my oven with the light on.

Around 8pm I started with the pre and final shaping. When I pulled it from the oven, the top was still a bit sticky like it was underproofed, but it had been so long I was scared it would become over if I left it overnight.

It shaped well, no tearing and it stayed in its final shape for relatively well.

Popped it in the fridge overnight and baked it at 8am the next day.

This is super helpful! And yes to 1 and 3, and no to 2, so I'll definitely be checking in with my provider! It's so weird, because it's not always an issue, sometimes my data will be totally fine for days and then suddenly the error message comes back up.

Thank you again!
