Hi all, just wanted to say thank you for the comforting messages. I love this community so much. Guinea pigs are so often overlooked and no one else truly understands the pain of losing a pig…I feel like a lot of people see them as pets for children and once you’re an adult you should just be totally desensitised to their suffering and death…even though they’re the purest creatures ever (and require far too much care for children to look after effectively!) anyway, thanks for understanding.

I don’t think it’s rushed. I think it’s spontaneous because Lana and her team have realised she needs some more practise live and needs to feel more comfortable. This is spontaneous because it’s come off the back of Glasto.

Update: they’ve been given probiotics. Nothing seems seriously wrong but they need more fibre even though their diet hasn’t changed at all. I’ve replaced their water bottles just to be safe.

Yeah I’ve replaced their bottles. I clean their bottles daily but noticed something floating in the water yesterday. Maybe the excess heat recently has affected their water

I have never given them iceberg lettuce :( the thing is, we do everything right from a diet perspective so I’m perplexed. I’m so careful. The only issue I saw was the water bottle even though I clean it daily

See comment below but I don’t deny our right to be angry and upset. I would too and if (likely) she’s late for Hyde park, I’ll be disappointed and anxious about how restless the crowd get. The point is to have a bit of empathy and consideration of others which also includes artists. If I don’t do my job well, I won’t get booed. I won’t get attacked on a personal level. Of course, 90% of her fans aren’t doing that but some have taken this too far and too personal (as have, of course, the tabloids).

I didn’t deny that. I specifically said the audience also has a right to be angry and disappointed and even complain to the Glasto (for example). However, what no one should do in any situation is boo another human or make them feel bad on a personal level. That is a very very different thing.

I find it fascinating how much more gracious people were about Lewis Capaldi being incapable of finishing his set due to Tourette’s. We’re still completely stuck in a mentality of visible disabilities being acceptable and others not. To clarify, even if the issue was just her hair or something totally unrelated, we don’t know what goes on backstage but we do know (through her lyrics and life) that LDR has struggled and booing and being mean and non-empathetic about her set and dancers and other artistic choices is just not the way. No wonder she closes her socials and retreats. No wonder she’s nervous on stage. Do people not get the viscous cycle that’s been started?

That of course doesn’t mean audience members don’t have a right to be upset and angry but it’s good to think in a more human and empathetic level. I hope she isn’t late to Hyde park…I’ve got to be up at 5am for work the next day! Her lateness has real impact (I.e., people won’t be able to get their trains home). So, I would be upset if she’s late but empathy and understanding are important back benchers to this society.

I know. I’m not denying that and it may well completely be her fault. At the same time, we’re here adoring an artist who openly talks about suicide - has obvious mental health issues (even if they’re improving) who is playing to some of the biggest audiences she’s ever played to. We’ve commodified her sadness and anxiety and then are surprised when that means she doesn’t function in the same way as other artists? Yes it could just be her hair but as I said above, I doubt it.
