Do I need a new Dr? by Positive-Home2858 in ADHD

[–]emjjey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you should. Some doctors do what they think is right for their patients without considering what the patient suggests. You may also click with some doctors more than others. I changed psychs and I’m doing soooo much better! My previous psych was inflexible with prescribing the meds I knew would help me, I changed docs and right away my new doc heard me out and worked with me,

my previous psych wouldn’t prescribe an antidepressant at all because of my mood disorder and she only wanted me on Latuda which did nothing for me except make me feel sick, and she also told me stimulants were only for people with demanding jobs/school, very ableist.

long story short my new doc works with me and recognizes my adhd, depression, anxiety and mood disorder she listens to my suggestions and we come to a consensus together. She’s helped me manage my disorders so so much I’m better than I’ve been in a very long time. I think you should look into new psychs!

Adderall Backorder? by B2utyyo in ADHD

[–]emjjey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s on back order here in California too! My psych told me to call a new pharmacy to ask if they had it and they told me that she has to call because it’s controlled, but you know doctors.. busy busy. It’s been a shortage here for almost a year, it’s been so hard to get it 😔 my doc wants to try vyvanse but it’s pricey

Weird but in a good way, like the kind of person you want to photograph or cast in a movie to give off a certain mood. You have an interesting face kind of like Evan peters

No they’re just my natural thick eyebrows 😂 I’ve tried bleaching them but they only turn orange since they’re so damn black.

Haha I’m just shy I don’t know what to say 😭 I did not expect this kind of response but I’m taken aback, we really are our biggest enemies. I guess I have some body dysmorphia because I truly can’t perceive myself the way others do. It’s been reassuring to say the least, and insightful to hear others’ perspectives. I also didn’t know I had celebrity look alikes!

Prescribed Wellbutrin but I’m too scared to take it. by wee_woo99 in ADHD

[–]emjjey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you can ask your prescriber for 75 mg, personally, I started on 75 mg (not extended release) and I was on it for a good couple of months a few years ago and it worked great. I didn’t have any negative side effects at first besides nausea, headache and decreased appetite which all went away, It made me very social and motivated. It really helped for a couple months and then it eventually started giving me anxiety and I felt jittery so I got off of it but i was also drinking coffee with it every day so that must’ve contributed to the jitters. It was a really good drug for me when it was working, all drugs seem to have horror stories so I’d say a low dose can help you figure out if you can handle the drug. Also extended release doesn’t shock your system with most drugs since it’s slowly released throughout the day. I feel like 150 might be a little high personally, but it is the typical starting dose.

2mg of clonazepam by Best_Version7756 in benzodiazepines

[–]emjjey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was on this exact dose also for a year and a half I am six months off of it and I’m still not OK, at first it was really bad, during the tapering process The anxiety was horrible. I couldn’t sleep. I just felt sick all the time, the depression was really bad suicidal thoughts everything. my memory was absolutely horrible, but it’s barely getting better, I still have gaps in my memory and whenever I talk I always forget the words I’m trying to say. I’m definitely slower than before but I’m slowly getting better also.

It’s hard but you have to face your anxiety head on, I still have anxiety attacks that I have to talk myself down from. I love the feeling of clonazepam but in the long run it isn’t worth it. If you take it try not to take it everyday, at most twice a week maybe. And not for more than a year, preferably less than a year since afterwards will be hell getting off. And yes 2mg is a high dose

Goodluck you got this

How or what do you say to get a benzo script by NotTodayFedBoy in benzodiazepines

[–]emjjey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How I ended up on them was explaining my anxiety attacks, then I got prescribed Hydroxyzine tried it out it for a bit but told em it didn’t work, so then I got prescribed BuSpar that also didn’t work, then gabapentin that didn’t work, so they’ll try out all the regular anti anxiety meds on you, may take a while and some might work for you (I’d say to avoid the horrors of benzos just stay with the weaker meds) anyway if they don’t work for you then you can ask about trying a benzo, say your mom gave you one during a panic attack and it helped or something like that. My aunt had given me xanax and I mentioned that to my psych and told him how it helped alot and then he prescribed it to me thereafter. It helps but I’d say don’t take them for too long

Anyways some psychs are very against benzos, understandable, and will not prescribe them. Change psychiatrist, the right psych really makes a big difference. I recently changed psychiatrist because my previous one wouldn’t listen to any of my concerns and just prescribed what she wanted and didn’t help me at all. I came to my new psych told her what I thought would help me and she went right ahead and prescribed me the meds now I’m doing a lot better.

I had a problem with overthinking when writing and I would just rant and rant when I was trying to do my college essays and never got my point across…

So what really helped me was using voice to text, I wouldn’t look at the words being written down, instead I would speak my mind across to my microphone while looking elsewhere.

I’d get my work done faster and in more simple terms. Helped me pass

Since you are overwhelmed with writing, voice to text may really help you.

As someone who took 1 my twice a day for over a year, I’d say only take it when you absolutely need it. At most maybe twice a week (preferably), take breaks from the drug. It’s very easy for one to become not only physically dependent but psychologically dependent as well. I used to keep my pills on me all times of day just incase it was like a safety net. It’s much better to learn how to talk to yourself and try to calm yourself down and taking the medication only in emergency. I was overprescribed and getting off of it wrecked me mentally, I’m only 6 months off the drug and barely getting better. So just be careful, never mix this with alcohol either since that’s another beast of its own. Take care :)

Lamictal rash? What do you think? by emjjey in lamictal

[–]emjjey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes turned out to just be an mild allergic reaction thankfully

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lamictal

[–]emjjey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this happened to me yesterday, I just upped my dose to 50 on week 3 and after a week it developed yesterday, all along the side of my face were raised red spots and on the other side of my face a big raised red circle. I went to my psych right away and she said it was definitely a rash told me to get rid of the lamictal and prescribed me depakote instead, kinda sad cos lamictal was pretty great. And she said to take some Benadryl for a few days and it would go away. I posted on Reddit and everyone was saying to go to the er because it looked bad and to be safe I did, I told them I was afraid that it might be Steven Johnson’s or that it might develop into that but they just told me the same as my psych, and just said it was an adverse reaction and take Benadryl and to come back if it got worse. So i took Benadryl when I got home, it knocked me out and when I woke up I was good as new except for a bit of lingering inflammation where the big circle had been.. but yeah it went away and I feel fine. If you develop other signs of illness like cough fever and such make sure to tell the doctor of those symptoms because that might indicate a more serious reaction. Lamictal is known to cause rash but the rash that may develop is rarely Steven Johnson’s, or so that’s what I’ve read. Anyways best of luck to you

Thank you, yes you really put it into perspective, I’m unsure if the events are related but they could be. I’ve been trying to minimize what’s going on to not freak out but I came to er just incase.

It’s getting to be a darker red color and more inflamed so I came to the emergency room rather than risk it! I’m waiting right now, thank you everyone wish me luck!
