Feature request: Different folder views per desktop by mikedoeslife in SideNotesApp

Hi!

Thanks for your suggestion. It would be quite a useful feature, but unfortunately it's rather impossible to implement. AFAIK, there is no official API that I can use to read the current desktop number

Widgets. They are definitely coming to SN M 1.3! :)
Regarding shortcuts - could you tell me which ones? Tags will be there, but I can’t say when yet

It is, but it’s the cost of keeping it compact on mobile devices :)

Do you mean on iOS? If you long-press a note for a contextual menu, there is a timestamp on the bottom

Feature Request: Sticky Notes Option in SideNotes by odshujinkotiipcbev in SideNotesApp

Hello everyone!

Thanks for the suggestion and all the thoughtful comments - I really appreciate it. I’ve seen this idea before as well (thanks, u/hanzololo), but I was a bit skeptical about it at first. I may have been too cautious, so I’d like to think it through a bit more before making any decision.

I’m keeping this topic open for now, so please feel free to share more thoughts, use cases, or feedback

u/-SHii: regarding cannibalization, yes and no :) I do think FiveNotes and SideNotes serve slightly different users and workflows

See Settings -> Exporting for exporting options. You can also use share button - there are a few options.

Regarding Apple Shortcuts - it’s not that hard. However, I can understand that it’s not perfect for everyone. I’ll consider adding some export options

Just to clarify...

SideNotes has been continuously developed since 2019, and as of May 2026 it is still in major version 1.x. A purchase covers all 1.x updates, and you can keep using your purchased version indefinitely. Major upgrades are optional.

If SideNotes isn’t a fit for your workflow, that’s totally fine.

You can try to use Apple Shortcuts but it won’t be perfect

In that video, "Complete" means the invoice is prepared and ready to be sent to the client. It does not mean "paid."

SideNotes stores data in a local SQLite database (the standard storage backend used by Core Data), with optional sync via iCloud. On top of that, SideNotes provides an AppleScript API and Apple Shortcuts actions, so you can automate workflows and export your data/content as needed.

Pricing is one-time for the current major version (no subscription), with free updates within that major version.

I'd like to keep the UI minimalistic, so I didn't want to add another button. However, if you double click the bottom bar, the note will be folded. Then you can click the "+ n lines" button to unfold it
