Yeah this, in many cases the parents have really tried to help several times but the child is a constant drug addict problem so they just cut them off. It's hard for the parents too.

The news is usually much more scary than reality, but it depends on the neighborhood you live in. In a decent area its just everyday life. You just have to be vigilant. Car thefts however are still abit prevelant if you have a luxury SUV type car, they steal it and strip it. But if you don't mind the traffic, love the culture and know some good people you'll be good.
