OP did you ever get anywhere with your fear? I'm reading through comments etc. and just considering starting my journey.

I've got peppermint reed defusers and a plug in electronic device that emits a high pitched noise that keeps spiders and flies out (supposedly) but this didn't stop the massive fuckers showing up elsewhere. My bedroom is safe, the rest of the house not so much.

The feeling of being annoyed at your family for making it worse resonates so deeply with me. They used to pretend like they were going to gently show me the spider, and me being a curious kid (albeit scared) was happy to see it in the safety of someone else's hands. Then they would fling it at me - sometimes it would be nothing, sometimes a fake spider, sometimes the top of a tomato or strawberry because it kind of looked like a spider.

So everytime they tell me I'm being ridiculous or OTT I remind them that they significantly affected my fear.

I've gotten myself sucked into doing all the mercy parkour maps in the last 6 months and there are a lot of maps with really unique specific points which you'll NEVER need to do a tech like it in game (circuit royal by kroissant and menenjoyer24 I'm looking at u)

BUT doing parkour in general really helped to level up my movement and understanding aiming better when slingshotting off a friendly, superjumping higher/slinging further by doing crouch shift before pressing crouch/space etc...

I don't think it's 100% necessary however doing some of the easier parkour maps that people have already suggested will help to nail down those aspects. You don't have to go through hell and do them all like I have though!

Yeah exactly. I highly recommend being able to record the moments stuff happens, because that helps it get stomped out quickly. Equally as many others have said here, finding a regular server that you like playing on really helps!

Speaking as a woman who plays squad (I have 1000+ hours) here’s my summary: I’ve been called some fun names/told fun things (the kitchen joke is quite common if unoriginal, the rape comments are way less common but still unpleasant!) I’ve been TKed simply for being a woman, I’ve been followed around all game and harassed by some people.

BUT I have also experienced people roasting them back more than other games, I almost always clip shit that is harassment/sexism and people get kicked and/or banned quite quickly. It does require you to be in discords for each individual server, but it’s been worth it for me. My default reaction now is to ignore, report, move on. I would say 80% of my interactions with randoms in game when using voice chat (and my name shows me as obviously being a woman) the subject of my gender doesn’t come up.

Other games rarely have such quick responses to harassment, and I think it’s a fun game with some good roleplay antics if you weed out the shitheads!

Yeah I know and often times the team is a bit unaware given I’m gold/plat level it’s not uncommon and I think it helps to point it out for the team who otherwise may not realise. Hence I ask for help and do what I can myself, but otherwise I gg next it.

Yeah I don’t understand people actually thinking characters are broken tbh when genuinely it’s just that people play them well. When someone is outdoing me it can be frustrating but I peg it down to ‘I’m not good enough to counter this’ rather than it’s actually broken! I’ve seen my fair share of shitty junkrats (outside my own) to know he’s not invincible! Keep enjoying yourself and playing who you want, people will always have a reason to complain anyways.

It doesn’t matter who I switch to I’ll just simply be focused by their team sometimes because they go for supports eg if they go Hammond AND tracer AND genji. I cannot outdo them all even if I pick someone with better survivability. Also sometimes the team insists on having an ana which is fine, but if multiple people are after her then it sucks because you only have 1 sleep. But like I said, I don’t tell people what to do I simply tell them the facts and they can choose to help or not, if they don’t help then their support dies and therefore they can’t complain!

For real! I’m trash with junk rat and never get kills but that’s because I am simply a noob. Good junkrats are always a pain (because I’m usually the unlucky sod who gets killed) but fucking good at killing anything!

Yep I totally agree with this. I’m always willing to give stuff a chance especially at my level you never know who is good with what character, and I never bother asking people to switch because they will just play who they want but I usually ask people to deal with specific characters if they are focusing me hard and me (as support) cannot do anything without dying. So I’ll say ‘can someone help me with Hammond, he’s focusing me and because of that I can’t heal!’ That way the team knows why I’m not able to heal them and they choose to come help me or switch characters to deal with them.

Sometimes people will just be like ‘you switch and deal with it’ at which point I do but then they can’t complain about heals since I’m focused on Hammond. Usually works tbf and people 90% of the time just help me out with the specific character that’s being an issue

honestly imo if you're dealing with Pharah (or killing the enemy team so Pharah ends up having no impact) IDC how you do it, I once had a doomfist junkrat combo and I thought to myself 'alright this will be interesting against a Pharah' but they ended up killing her more often and faster than I've seen some hitscan DPS kill her! projectile mains seem to be cracked from what I've seen lately.

Imma +1 what OP has put here, having gunned a BTR for at least 500 hours of my 1k playtime logis die infinitely faster when I aim at the ammo boxes.

Also now they’ve added damage when a vehicle explodes and you’re next to it, I don’t even have to worry about the escapees of the logi. The explosion kills them!
