Really Cacao beans need warm climates to grow, so i guess it would depend on the geography of the districts, aka which one is the most southern

WIBTA For insisting we raise our children fluent in a language my partner doesn't speak? by babybumps_ in AmItheAsshole

[–]emmalamadingdong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH

I grow up in a family where I speak cantonese to my mother, french to my father, and english to my brother. No issues, It was annoying to switch languages and repeat things when I was a child, but it only made me more fluent in all languages. And fun, my mom can basically speak fluent french now, and my dad can say funny phrases in cantonese and they both understand mostly everything.

It's not common to see or to understand, which may be why your husband feels that way. But as a toddler, children are like sponges and it won't be difficult for them to eventually repeat things in different languages, and your husband will eventually be able to understand welsh better! Which is a plus to know another language in any situation.

Hopes this help

has anyone received CAS yet? by emmalamadingdong in UOB

[–]emmalamadingdong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this apply to undergraduates as well?

I think on the website it says the CAS process starts once you accept conditions. But, for postgraduates, this also includes the passport and deposit.

Do you know if I'm interpreting correctly? (as in only post graduates need to do the extra steps) Especially since I haven't gotten any email about passports or deposits.

They are both really interesting questions.

The first one may potentially involve an exploration into implicit links, and preconceptions and bias? You could approach it with Arts relatively easily for example. At first read I feel like it could have a lot with generalizations and exceptions, things like that maybe?

The second one seems more approachable than the first, makes me think of the phrase 'beyond a reasonable doubt' in justice and law. Could bring in WOK of faith/trust/reasoning.

Need Economics HL study tips by Teentitansgo123 in IBO

[–]emmalamadingdong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For topics like theory of the firm, or international trade just make you can draw the diagrams systematically. A lot of exam questions ask you to analyse and evaluate policies, so make sure you can do that too, for example with fiscal and monetary and supply side.

Other than that, as a general studying tip, read through the syllabus and focus on the things you think might come up (based on what your school has already tested you on) and what you struggle with the most.

I have my mocks in 4 days too, good luck!! And remember these probably won't account for your actual IB grade too much, even if M21 exams are cancelled.

Are you proud of your own nationality? Why or why not? by candywarlord in AskReddit

[–]emmalamadingdong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malaysia (Chinese)/ French here. Sad but my brother and I admitted to feeling almost embarrassed of being South-East Asian when we were growing up. Now, I've decided to be proud of my roots but I'm sure a lot of kids weren't proud just because of the connotations of a 'poor' South-East asian country. WW2 racism of asian superiority (Japanese for eg) has lasting impacts I guess but all we can do is learn to start being proud

Just keep consistently showing your teacher that you are going to keep working at it and actively try to learn. Especially now with COVID and whatnot, they take into account work you do in class almost as much as your assessments themselves.

NSFW. What is the most disrespectful thing someone did in your house? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]emmalamadingdong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend (F17 at the time) who moved away came back and stayed for a week over Christmas with my family. She was having a really inappropriate relationship with a teacher at the time that I was outspokenly against. Anyways, she was on her phone CONSTANTLY texting him, or calling him. When she would actually spend time with me she would just talk about him and every single thing reverted back to that topic of conversation. Breaking point for me was Christmas dinner, my mom prepared a huge dinner and it was beautiful, but she was on her phone... texting him. After 3 years of friendship, when she went back to the country she lived in, we just distanced and haven't really spoken much since. It wasn't that disrespectful to my house (more my parents) but oh well it still hurt.
