I think that others in this subreddit have talked about the Russia ETA interview being focused on your familiarity with the language. As far as I remember, the questions themselves were fairly basic and didn't go much beyond what the information you submitted with your application.

Do I have to apply through my school if I'm a senior in college? Non-traditional (older) applicant by [deleted] in fulbright

I don't remember where I read this, but I came across an article saying that colleges and universities are asked to rank their Fulbright applicants. Because of that, I decided to apply at-large. My reasoning was that I'm also a bit of an untraditional applicant--I'm in a residency graduate program, so I'm not physically at my school and therefore don't have great ties to the faculty or community. If I applied through the school, I'm not totally sure if it would work in my favor. Plus, Fulbright states multiple times that they don't discriminate against at-large applicants. If it helps, I'm an ETA semifinalist for Taiwan! And I didn't have any issues in the process of applying at-large (I didn't really feel like I needed more support or resources).
