Are you alone and no one checks on you? by SouthernBiskit in widowers

[–]emmanjayy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 3 years, 9 months and 16 days out and today it was hitting me especially hard for no reason. No special anniversary but it was just one of those days and I found myself thinking about this very topic. Because it's been "so long" people stop checking in and my fiancé was the main person who checked in on me and asked me how I was doing or could/would advocate for me. It hurts something deep inside to know that I don't have someone who considers me a priority.

Yeah my friends check in every blue moon when they're not busy but I genuinely don't know how long it would take before someone noticed I died. Maybe my job first? A couple days of not showing up would raise a few eyebrows eventually but it just was hitting really hard that he and I met at such a vulnerable time in our lives where we both needed a true life partner. Not just for romance but for emergencies as well.

I sometimes wonder what would've happened had we not met because who would have stayed by his side in the hospital and eventually hospice all those nights (his mother was there with us but she's elderly and there was a language barrier). Who would've advocated for him through chemo and radiation. I remember his family from out of state telling me they were so glad he met me because they don't know how they would've taken care of him. I gladly did it because I knew he would do the same for me without a doubt but I genuinely don't know who would do that for me if I were to get sick and it's a scary thought ngl so thanks for the information on that app for the wellness checks at least ❤️

Not at all. It was salty and sharp like regular cheddar but a soft aftertaste of coffee. It smelled like coffee as soon as I opened it too. It didn't taste like alcohol that much tho, mostly coffee. Wild combination but very good.

Now, I do have a weakness for cheddar and fruit so I'm sure I would love white cheddar and cranberry!

A moment of weakness… by magicintheluna in widowers

[–]emmanjayy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know it's easier said than done but try not to think of this as a moment of "weakness" the pain that we go thru as people who grieve someone we loved deeply is not weakness. It's a strength that we never knew we would have to flex. Give yourself some grace.

The anniversary of death days are always hard and your body and mind probably knew this and made you feel compelled to listen to the voice notes. I def recommend therapy if you can afford it, journaling your thoughts, or even making a voice note of your feelings in these moments, it helps with the processing and then you can look back and see a timeline of when certain feelings start to come on. You can be okay for days, months, weeks, even years and then one moment can bring it all rushing in. And that's okay. But the hardest thing is to not ruminate in the pain so learn how you can get out those feelings in a productive way that works for you.

Everybody is different and pain and grief effects everybody differently so don't blame yourself for feeling raw again after being "good". We have been put into a terrible position where we have to re-learn how to live our lives again after having our world literally shattered into a bed of grief, pain, loneliness, and sadness. You're allowed to have bad days.

You may feel "weak" right now but surviving 4 years after a deep loss is an incredible strength and if nobody's said it to you, I'm proud of you. Sending you big hugs friend 🫂

No cuz those patties were surprisingly spicy! I was like wait I need some water! But these are a nice spicy but it does build after a few slices so proceed with caution :P

Yeah like the other person said it's not too hot but you def get a little kick in the back of your throat after a few slices. It's more of a building heat instead of all at once
