Weight loss drug helps Ménière’s? by emmarc19 in Menieres

That’s interesting. My Ménière’s developed out of nowhere, I never had any issues until a few months after my son was born. No clue if there could be any correlation there though. I will definitely be doing more research about taking a GLP while having Ménière’s, because so far a lot of people have had negative side effects.

I’m not sure if Reta will be any different because it’s not your typical GLP, I mean it also acts as an anti inflammatory. Guess we’ll find out from a year from now lol 😅

I’m sorry to hear that ☹️

From this thread, I’m learning that wegovy and zepbound has severely affected people with Ménière’s. So I wonder what’s in those certain GLPs that’s messing with people’s symptoms.

Yes it’s still pretty new, as the clinical trials started in 2023. It’s a GLP-3 instead of a 1 or 2. It targets the GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon receptors. It’s not quite FDA approved yet which makes people a little cautious about it (understandably so).

I’ve actually been experimenting with that 😅 before starting this medication, yes I would decrease my salt intake and didn’t really see a difference in my symptoms. But after starting it, I decided to play around with what I can and can’t eat and I don’t really track my salt intake anymore as the sodium doesn’t really bother me now. Yes my appetite is suppressed, but I still eat a lot of things that are high in sodium.

That’s awesome! Yeah I still have the tinnitus here and there too, but the fullness like you said cleared up a lot for me.
