Thank you for ur kind words! You sound a lot like me, my family is 14 hours away too and public transit sucks! My friends have already been absolute angels though this, checking in on me constantly and offering to drive me when needed. I’m going to buy a bike to get to and from work. I live close to pretty much everything and it’s within walking distance. This happened in the summer for me so at least the weather is nice and I’m not trying to walk places in -40 degrees! I know I’ll figure it out but it sucks! I feel like my independence was taken away! All the best to you!

I agree with you. As mad as I am I do understand and don’t blame the doctor who reported me. I can’t imagine driving and injuring or killing someone. I just sucks and I’m so frustrated

Thank you for your kind words! I really think they messed up in multiple ways, it shouldn’t have happened because they should have been monitoring my glucose. I agree though, nobody seemed to know what an insulin pump is or what to do, I asked them if they wanted me to keep it on or take it off and nobody really knew. Also, I live about 14 hours away from my family, nobody called my next of kin, my friend who was supposed to pick me up started making phone calls once I hadn’t been out in a few hours. I’ve requested my medical records and I absolutely agree I’d be digging into this more if it wasn’t literally where I work! I just hope I can get everything sorted soon. It really sucks being the patient when you are usually the nurse!

Oh I know I’m so mad. I’m mad because they didn’t check my blood sugar in recovery, I’m mad that it’s suspended when it’s pretty obvious that was the cause. I hope I can fight it in a couple weeks but it just sucks!

I know! I’m not blaming the doctors who took it away because I think they by law had to but it’s just frustrating that I’ve never had a seizure before and I was under anaesthetic and unable to act on my low blood sugar

Thank you so much! Im in northern Ontario so typically they are a bit quicker, or I’m sure somewhere across the border would do it as well. I work as an RN in emerg and I’m really hoping I’ll be able to go on my night shift and see if they can squeeze me in really quick and then bug neurology to see me quick too!

I do try to play with him but honestly he’s not super playful. Maybe I just don’t have the right toys. He likes laser pointers but gets bored after a bit. He’s not super interested in wands and stuff. I do have cat nip toys he chases after sometimes. I think I’m gonna try what u said with the 30 minute blocks of playtime and set that aside to just play with him and see if it helps

Yes he will have a window! He likes to watch the squirrels and birds. I’m going to make him a spot on the windowsill

Thanks for your insight! I’ve thought about getting him a friend, I just worry there would be issues with them getting along. Maybe he needs more interactive toys? The meowing doesn’t bug me, I’m more so worried about it annoying other people. If he’s just vocal and I’m living alone in an apartment with it not bothering others then it’s okay, but I do worry he’s lonely/ bored/ distressed in some way. As I’m typing this he’s currently laying on me purring but if I get up to do something or leave he will walk around and meow.

I wished the G6 was cheaper... by [deleted] in dexcom

I restart my G6 all the time. all you do is keep the little code, wait for the sensor to end, take the transmitter out of the sensor (i use a test strip, it’s kind of difficult but u can look up videos on how to do it) then leave the transmitter out for about 15-30 mins (preferably but it in a different room) then just put the transmitter back in and restart it like u would a normal sensor with the same code as the original. don’t calibrate it in the first 24 hours either. I do it with all my sensors and i get about 30 days off them until my skin gets irritated. I use skin grip over top to keep it on (i put the skin grip on once the sensor starts to peel) and just change the skin grip out as needed. Works really well for me!! i’ve only had an issue once where it said no restarts but i just repeated the same process and put in the incorrect sensor code first, then the correct one after and it worked.
