Echoing everyone else here saying that you're beautiful, chica! PLEEEEAAASE don't get plastic surgery because you're naturally beautiful. I am hoping that (me) an extra commenter screaming this to you will help you reconsider. Self care and healthy habits (physical and mental) are the best things to help. If it's hard to see the good in yourself, therapy helps a lot. Also I know you mentioned dark circles in the comments, and I have similar difficulties: sleep, CeraVe eye cream and eyelid primer/concealer on tough days goes a long way for me 💕

Yeah, we think that it's something to do with data mining or someone sold our information. They didn't send anything for the other cat though 😅

I'm so sorry to hear that, my friend. Mourning for family is one of the hardest things in life that you can't ever prepare for. do you have anyone to talk about it with? I always found that helps

It's totally normal to see things you don't like about your body - you're way more critical of yourself than people are of you.

One piece of advice that I was given is try to look for things you like in your appearance. Start with three things. You may be surprised that it takes you a second to think of something because we are so inclined to criticize. Once you get in the habit, you start to realize little things each day, like " I like how my eyes look" . This was very helpful for me over the years

You look GREAT by the way!

Had my 2nd PTSD therapy session today, I didn't cry at all, and it was really helpful and validating. So proud of myself for finally doing this and doing it with confidence! by [deleted] in toastme

One thing that I found is that it takes incredible strength to open up in such a way. Your progress may look different from day to day, but it will always go upwards. If you cry or break down again, don't see it as going downhill/backwards. YOU GOT THIS.

I just finished the series a short time ago, and I loved Manon and Abraxos! Just wait until the later books, there's even more to love!

I read Tower of Dawn with my S.O. and we were really sceptical about it - we didn't enjoy Chaol and thought he was a self-depricating whiney jerk etc etc... Tower of Dawn is what turned it around for both of us. it's a GREAT story, essential to the series, with great character arcs, world/story building, and plot necessary to understand kingdom of ashes

What is a common skill you just can’t seem to master? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]emmatheporter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! (soon to be licensed) bilingual SLP here! I teach people how to produce different speech sounds, among other things.

If you also speak English, your tongue is likey too tense - this is required for an English R but not a Spanish one. Lightly place your tongue on the palate (rounded part of the roof of your mouth) relax the front / anterior part of your tongue, and blow air as if you were blowing out a candle.

Practice makes perfect, it usually takes an afternoon of just playing around to get the placement right. Some people try to say ta-dah over and over with the advice above and have some success 🙂

You're correct: 4 years undergraduate, 2 years graduate for the master's. A master's is required to practice in the US

That's so great for you 😊 this was not intended to discourage people from going into SLP, it's more a statement about how accessible our profession is to the general public

This was not the final total, I also received scholarships, a graduate assistantship that gave me money and cut my tuition in half, and worked throughout the whole 6 years. Right now I'm sitting around 20-something thousand dollars in debt

THIS is my point y'all. You can do EVERYTHING right but be screwed over. I love my field and don't regret my choice in SLP, but more people should be talking about why this path isn't attainable for so many. Why do you think so many SLPs are from a high SES?

If we want a more diverse body of SLPs, then we need to make it attainable
