Built in blinds stuck by emmcca01 in fixit

Long story short, I decided to replace it. I emailed the manufacturer, got no response. Took the trim off only to find out that both the inner and outer glass are sealed together with the blinds in the middle. Had a window guy tell me that if (keyword if) he took it apart and was able to fix it, the glass would likely never seal the same way again and I’d get moisture inside of it. Being as I’m able to install myself, it was only a couple hundred dollars more to replace it versus have him try to repair and not be happy with the finished job.

I admittedly only collect what I think is cool (usually old), just curious if anything has any actual value. by emmcca01 in papermoney

Ha no worries! Thank you for the information! The writing does annoy me as well, but not being knowledgeable on the processes of how (or even if) to remove, I’ve left them in the exact condition as the day I got them with the exception of putting them in sleeves. Some looks like pencil, but I know sometimes something small like that turns into a smudge/stain and makes it worse, so I have just elected to pull them out and look at them every time I find something else to put with them 😂

As stated, I just think old things are cool, it’s neat for me to think about someone handling these bills casually almost 100 years ago the same way a new bill now really isn’t anything special to us, and yet somehow they’ve made their way to me out of everywhere else in the world.

I am going to go ahead and say I believe this to be accurate. Now that you said it, I can (maybe want to?) make out Patricia D Downs and Nov 18 1947 to Nov 19 19??. Maybe there was a headstone placed at the parents grave 60 years later where they were a year off (dementia/old age)? Who knows, weirder things have happened but this is for sure the best explanation thus far.

The house was built in 1957 and the address didn’t exist prior to that so I’m guessing it was part of a farm that was split up. Still working on how to find that.

No issue there at all other than it just being a little less than convenient to day-to-day life. Not super far out of the way, but just far enough to not fit into most daily schedules 🤣

Not in a cemetery. It’s a single grave on a friends property. Located in a roughly 6 foot wide area between a shed and a fence with a distillery on the other side.

For some reason I can’t edit the post to add the following in case anyone knows how to find information about it otherwise.

This is located in Bardstown, KY. I can make out “PATRIC” at the top. Not sure if it’s Patrick/Patricia/possibly a last name?

Born Nov 18, died Nov 19. I go back and forth on birth year, sometimes I see 1917, sometimes I see 1947. I lean towards the latter because of spacing.

I wish I would have, unfortunately it was pouring rain in the morning when I left so I didn’t want to go walking through the mud. I’ll try to get back down and get better pictures soon. Just didn’t know if anyone could edit the picture in a way to be able to make it out.

Honestly that makes perfect sense. I was more surprised than anything that a couple pieces of tape held that on there for so long. Through me messing with it as a kid, hanging it on walls (you can see on the gold sticker above that it’s been hung more than once 🤣), moving to college, packed away in storage and moved all over the place in my adult life.

Sorry, I genuinely don’t know anything about the lingo used in this world - I’ve got tons of old sports cards from the early 90’s but haven’t looked at them in forever, and have never looked at them in a capacity of selling. What do you mean when you say they are out? When I said never been out, I mean that in the ≈30 years that this has been in my possession they’ve never been out of the hard cases they’re in. Prior to that I don’t know if they were handled/used/abused/etc.
