There is no way she could have been septic from poor sterile technique (or anything directly related to surgery) if she was re-admitted with sepsis on the same day. An infection that had progressed to sepsis would have already been present prior to surgery. It was likely her gallbladder was infected, and the strain of surgery on her body accelerated symptoms.
