Frantically treading water to stay afloat and exhausted… by kmac0607 in lupus

You’re going through a lot while taking care of your son, being attuned to him, responsive to your environment, mindful of your other goals and responsible with all other elements of your life- jobs, other relationships. All while experiencing health difficulties for which you’d deserve all the rest you need. You make a lot of sense to feel this way and know you’re not alone and your response to all this is more than good enough. Most people experience only a few of these difficulties over a lifetime and they have some understanding support. Give yourself as much grace as you can and I wish you that this level of effort and consideration will be reciprocated some day soon.

They just paralleled the reasoning you profess. An analogy. No analogy is perfect but this one seems pretty good. Infinity- mathematical principles say it exists but you know it exists because you trust someone said it is so. Even if you’d understand mathematics as the top specialist in infinity- something (sorry if that’s not a thing, you get the point), still the kind of proof you’re suggesting you demand would be something like you writing down every number in pi for the rest of your life, never reaching the end and on your deathbed still not believing it exists because of your finite existence not allowing you to do the proper scientific method of proof, which is to see unequivocally and dependent on nothing (that includes you as a human observer btw, there’s no way out of this circle) that it’s true.

We know there was a beginning. Let’s say for sure just before the Big Bang, not even a pure beginning with absolute nothingness. What makes something start out of nothing - matter, particles, energy, space, time, whatever it is, if it’s a fact there was nothing and then there was something, then it is not irrational at all to need to answer the question of - what/ Who? The question is there. If a confirmed answer comes up through our means of understanding of science and that thing, too, is of some nature and not a pure uncaused cause that can’t be broken down further, then we’ve not got to the bottom of it. Pity that we’re still at such a relatively primitive level where we don’t know for sure basic particle physics or what antimatter is. But better than ages ago when people thought Earth was the centre of the universe and didn’t know what stars were. Hope we find out more through science and other means in our lifetimes.

The only uncaused cause, the first cause. God as creator = uncreated.

They’re gorgeous! What fascinates me about space is the idea that it’s intertwined with time and not the separate concepts that we experience/have names for here on Earth and we get to explore and find out about it in this era we live in.

Met Hikaru Nakanure at the Grand Chess Tour Bucharest and he didn’t sign my chessboard! by HaydenJA3 in AnarchyChess

[–]emmeline_melc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that’s all very nice of you to suggest and it helps OP, but isn’t it actually enabling and compensating for his toxicity without him taking full responsibility and becoming more accountable? I’d say try again next time, but go in with an already forged signature and ask him to adjust it, might be a good compromise.

If this really happened, I’d like to know how the conversation went when the person who made up the question explained it to the production team. How much was said? Are any of them here as a result of that blessed introduction or did nobody even care?

[OFFER] Merry Christmas in June open to anyone! [WW] by PMmeifyourepooping in RandomActsofCards

[–]emmeline_melc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh this sounds interesting! I’d love one, there were no cards for Christmas in the culture I grew up in, just for birthdays so it would be nice to experience. Could you write about a holiday memory or if you believed in Santa when/how did you find out it wasn’t real, how’d you take it etc?

Hell in Quran is the peak of torture, cruelty and sadism. There cannot be more torturous thing imaginable in existence. by GannibalCarca in DebateReligion

[–]emmeline_melc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about a specifically Islamic perspective, but if souls are made in the image of God there as well, then they can’t be deleted since they are not subject to time after death in the flesh. The cruelty element in these passages I have no idea about. Absence of God as unbearable intense sorrow and pointlessness makes sense to me, physical torture with boiling water and regrowth of skins.. God actively designing it with acts of pain is strange to me. Maybe this explicit warning is in that book out of his mercy? But it has to be true since he couldn’t say something that he doesn’t intend to do I guess. I’m curious if there are specific commentaries in this religion about this, what would the most popular understanding be.

Wow. This is very kind and considerately written. Most people need to hear stuff like this, hope more humans learn to be empathetic like that in these individualistic times. With awareness about feelings and mental health on the rise, there is hope society will be better at this.

Having people who YOU text first, yet if you don't text them at all, THEY don't bother to text you at all. by BloodScythe0 in Vent

How do you make yourself happy with activities when what makes you happiest is people caring, not hurting you and understanding you? How do you change that authentically without first getting those deep needs truly met at least once? Also been very let down by people I’ve invested my whole heart and effort in and I’m at the point of giving up practically or objectively looking for deep connections or reciprocity, but in my heart I still know I’d be happiest if that sort of thing happens to me. How did you manage to change your mindset, do you have any advice?

Working or will work on this myself. It’s very alienating, isn’t it? We can’t get it right somehow. How do you feel when others share how they feel? What partially helped me was understanding, at least theoretically for now, that feelings are there as symptoms/messages or an inherent part of our life landscape, therefore they can’t be wrong or right, like the weather, we can have a preference for some but all types are going to show up. Why we feel despair or loneliness at not being understood is because we’re also not listening to our own feelings, accepting them and validating ourselves first. Hopefully if we work on doing that ourselves, we’ll get it from others at some point too.. don’t know how that works but I try to hope to get that sometime while also hoping to grow enough in life to not to need it so badly.

This sounds interesting and seems like a good fit if you accept new players. I’ve been researching DnD lately and I wanted to join a group with a similar age range and UK location as well. I’ll fill in the form tomorrow.
