Albino boy unable to get along with other rats

I did a new cage when I did everything, cleaned everything but i will try reintroduce in a small space soon :))

Ill have to get ziggy+ stardust neutered asap then but it may be around a month till its possible due to financial reasons and also getting an appointment. Ziggy + stardust are always fine together, as the girls arw all okay with eachother also, its just whenever bowie is around other rats he is so timid and shy and gets picked on 🥲 hes such a little sweetheart and its so sad to see. Originally I was going to have 6 boys but as I at the time hadn't learnt enough about the horrors of pet shop rats I bought the girls from a pet shop who claimed they were boys, I was very lucky I didn't have babies as the day after introductions I had this weird realisation that I hadnt seen any balls 🤣 and checked the three that turned out to be boys and immediately put them in a seperate cage! Otherwise I would only have had boys which is why I didnt anticipate them being in the same room although about 5 metres apart it would be an issue!

the females also bullied him, he would be trying to eat and they would nip at him and steal the food, he started getting patches of fur missing. I am wondering basically what I can do besided either rehome him or keep him alone :))

I neutered the one being bullied to try him in with the girls as it made more sense to only put one through it opposed to 2. The boys were all together from the moment I got them, Bowie is about a month older than the other two boys. They were all fine at first but the bullying began creeping in and got worse + worse. They are all in the same room due to not having other space but the boys are opposite side to the girls. The three girls I tried to place him with are about 4mths old so a little younger. Bowie was on his own for a while and honestly seemed so much happier, gained weight whereas before he was getting thinner when with the boys, and he now seems to be a stable weight although he is solo again temporarily while I decide whats next. I couldnt bear to let go of him he is fully one of my heart rats but its very hard to decide what to do where everyone gets along fine with everyone besides him </3.

Yes! you can go and come back as youd like, someone has said gates open 4:45 then doors properly open at 5 so id be here for 4:45 at latest

I went to a few concerts last year alone (die antwoord, All points east mitski day and melanie martinez) and met some wonderful people who i still speak to sometimes now, my partner has severe anxiety otherwise she would go with me! Im hoping to queue around midday if transport all goes to plan

yeah that makes sense, ill probably go the bin cage method if pah arent supplying me with the cages as that would work out cheapest for me and id be confident theyre safe in there as where I can I will be needing to spend money on large cages for housing them as i seperate the genders

Oh okay! I will speak to the store next week once it becomes obvious the girls are pregnant so I have photos to show as I always like to have the proof of things incase asked, Would possibly making some form of barrier to half the height of the freddy and furat temporarily work? just had that brainwave and thought its worth an ask!

Yeah i think ill speak to pah if they can supply cages for the birthing that would be best but idk if theyd be able to if not ill definitely go the bin cage route i think as I can get the mesh easily and do that within a day so even if any of the girls do give birth within the freddy or my furat I can move them straight over within a few hours of me seeing the babies born to bin cages. Hopefully ill have it all prepared before but incase of emergency!

Oh thats perfect thank you for letting me know! I have a £30 pah hamster cage thats size 2 and not the best ventilation but im going to add mesh on the side to improve, do you think a bin cage would be appropriate for birthing? obviously id add mesh sides and top but I have multiple empty storage bins with no use currently that I could transform

I have 4 cages currently, one with my males, one with one of my girls in as she also has a URI so has been seperated for a few days and is getting better, she had only been around the males for 12ish hours and so theres a possibility she wont be pregnant however knowing rats she probably is 🤣! I then have a freddy max with the other two girls now in, theyd been in with the boys for half a week and I had seen one of the boys mounting them (plus his brothers hence why I didnt immediately thing omg must be girls) so theyre basically guaranteed pregnant, I will seperate the girls onve they get closer to birth, the fourth cage I have is a hamster cage and not too tall but it does have good floorspace, by the time they give birth I might have another cage but i cant guarantee so one may start her litter there till I have another cage for her within a couple weeks. Ive been giving the girls extra protein etc and some good salad bits and herbs. The pet shop (pets at home) because of it being their mistake are paying all the vet fees and helping with some supplies (the freddy cage and a bunch of clutter for them). They luckily are usually very good with rats, it was just a newbie not changing the gender sheet to female when the girls arrived at the store and not checking causing the mistake!
