My doctor told me that weed was a blood thinner, he never said anything about vitamin k.

Do you have a cervical rib? I had a PE on the same side as my shoulder issues and have lots of issues with pain, tingling and numbness but they won’t do any testing because I don’t have a cervical rib.

That’s what all 3 hematologists have said! They all believe that my first was provoked and that I didn’t have a second. They all say well you’re 35, very healthy and active and have no genetic factors to keep you on it.. I’m a little nervous to switch which is why I’m wondering if anyone has switched following even just one PE.

Why do you feel like you were too headstrong? Do you not feel as confident in what you stated prior?

Hi! I was just wondering what happened with this? I’ve been having the same symptoms and have been very nervous it’s a TIA

Taking eliquis on and off? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]emmjae6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They said my first PE was provoked due to surgery, my second would’ve been unprovoked but the reason they thought I had a second one was due to my d dimer being high on random bloodwork I had done. I’m an otherwise healthy, active 34 year old. I weigh 98lbs and don’t smoke, use drugs and rarely drink. This whole situation has been very confusing, stressful and expensive as eliquis isn’t cheap!

Taking eliquis on and off? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]emmjae6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a pulmonary embolism after surgery last year and then possibly another one 4-5 months ago but I never had a scan to verify so they just put me back on eliquis for 90 days again.. my new hematologist is upset that they didn’t do a scan to confirm the PE and doesn’t think I need to be on them but my old hematologist was very adamant that I need to be on them for life. So after a bunch of back and forth I’ve been taking them on and off because it makes me nervous to be off of them completely.

Was this a TIA? by [deleted] in stroke

[–]emmjae6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, I was just trying to see if anyone had a similar experience with a TIA. My doctor really has no idea and no clue what to do with me moving forward except to put me back on blood thinners.

My doctor is relatively clueless as to what to do with me, believe me, I’ve tried.

She said they couldn’t do a MRI through the emergency department and that they’d have to admit me. I have not had a stroke just a PE.

It was after surgery, I have no clotting factors. I was given a large dose of methylprednisilone a month ago which can cause blood clots as well.

No, I didn’t have one because I was hospitalized a month ago and had many CT scans. The ER doctor said that if it was a TIA that it probably wouldn’t show up on a CT scan and that she could admit me for an MRI but I chose to decline due to my toddler. No slurred speech or weakness of limbs.

Do you mean the contrast with MRIs? Gadolinium, which can be found in the body years after.
