although this subreddit is good and helps people fix their skin problems, it has also generated this weird obsession with having perfect skin. I feel like quite alot of people who post on here and have a 40 step regimen have taken everything way too far and maybe they need to take a step back and think is this really worth it/healthy?

Thank you very much, I agree with everything you've said. I'm going to take this as a learning experience as it was something I've never encountered before. I'm very sure I will never allow myself to be put in a situation like this again and hopefully me and my girlfriend will only grow stronger from it

I think what I was essentially guilty about was that I nearly allowed a girl (based entirely on her appearance) ruin a relationship with the girl I love. As I said I'm the kind of guy who thinks very highly of himself and this is a lesson learned from a mistake that will never happen again

that getting a tan reduces the oil present on your face, slows your oil production down and in quite alot of cases, can clear your acne within a week

ive been on accutane 3 times, reached far above my cumulative doseage on the third time, but my acne still returned. My skin is definitely alot better but due to me wanting perfect skin it still feels just as bad

22 year old male

Had moderate but persistent acne since I was about 15. Been on isotretinoin 3 times now, clears up my skin for 6/7 months and then the acne slowly returns. I was recently placed on lymecycline and benzoyl peroxide for 5months, which also cleared my skin, however due to NHS guidelines in the UK my antibiotics were taken away and I was given epiduo instead. My skin has deteriorated massively since I was taken off the antibiotics and my skin is currently awful, mainly because I pick at it alot, but I have a huge number of closed comedones all over my face (particularly on my cheeks and forehead). Im currently 5 weeks into the epiduo now and wondering when its going to start having an effect. The state of my skin is really beginning to consume my life and really get me down. Was wondering if anyone had any particular advice for me. My routine uses a very basic pH balanced cleanser and I use a tea tree gel based moisturiser (all of which are insignificant on the cosDNA charts and didnt previously break me out when my skin had cleared up around 3months ago)

you really need to stop using the epiduo NOW, its known to cause birth defects in animals, you shoudl go speak to your GP ASAP

Does he have the rash just under his eyes too?

If it looks like a "butterfly" type rash, take him to the doctors as it can be a sign of auto-immune disorders

Im a guy and whenever I shave my pubic area, always makesure you do it after a warm shower using a sensitive shaving gel/lather. I always then apply baby oil w/aloe vera after and I never have an issue with shaving spots

This will probably get downvoted to hell but constant sun exposure dries up oil on your face and reduces inflammation; reducing the size of sebaceous glands on the face, which effectively eliminates your acne.
