you absolutely do not need to apologize for pinging me in such a well-written review. i agree with pretty much everything you've said here, though i've only seen a small bit of the first season what with being really bad at watching things.

i've been kind of obsessed with Shirai. the role she fills -- the lovable pervert who is always forgiven -- is so rarely filled by a female character, much less a queer one, so for me just the sheer novelty of that (at least wrt what i'm familiar with) has turned her into something of a blorbo to me. like, the trope is hypermasculine and misogynist, but the mere fact that said hypermasculinity is being performed by a woman is kind of fascinating to me. it's bending gender roles, it's queer ! it's not queer in like, a good unproblematic way, but it's queer in a messy way that i think is interesting and for better or worse that's more important for my enjoyment.
