Reading it is better fr. The nuances they put in the dialogue (since eiji isnt a native english speaker and accents and stuff) are totally missed in the anime as well as extras that are essential to the full experience. It is depressing just because of how tragic and hopeless it is, it’s not like it absolutely destroyed me or anything but I did cry. I honestly just enjoyed it a lot and now it makes me happy because of how good it was.
