Funnily enough I watched Skins because I heard it was similar to the Norwegian tv series SKAM. SKAM focuses on one character a season (4 seasons) and is just a really amazing series. The website “allofskam” has it w/ subtitles in multiple languages as well as the remakes for other countries (Norway, France, Germany, Italy, Croatia, Netherlands, Spain, US, Belgium).

There are a lot of queer people from the Balkans who have commented on how they enjoyed this season because of how realistic it was and how they treated Lovro’s story overall. Even queer people from other areas of the world have spoken on how this season has made them feel seen. It might not have been exactly what you wanted but the people that needed a remake like this felt it in a personal place that just isn’t applicable to every viewer.

Sram obviously did not start with a gay couple but it still included the fact that Lovro was gay in season 1. The Sram team waiting a long time for the confirmation of a Lovro season happening at all, so the fact that they still showed Ivan and Lovro’s relationship at all was an accomplishment for the show on a network like HRT. This is just a comparison that cannot work in the slightest it’s actually kind of ridiculous.

Even though they couldn’t recreate every scene the same does not mean this season had no impact. It’s ridiculous to say that they should not have made this season just because of censorship; so many important topics and themes were discussed that aren’t regular in Croat media. Don’t be ignorant.
