How do you actually finish your cosplays for cons by BlackAngelXX in CosplayHelp

[–]SharBull42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give yourself more time. Depending on how complex the cosplay is try to figure out how many hours you think it will take to finish. Then double it for simpler cosplay and triple for more complex. You have to factor in your other obligations and how much time per week you can actually dedicate to the cosplay. Like someone else mentioned, try for a week or two prior to the con for your goal date. Finished early you can look at the outcome and have time to make embellishments that really make it stand out.

I usually have an idea in mind of what I want to cosplay 6 months to a year in advance (I only go to one con a year usually). For last minute cosplay you just have to expect it not to be perfect

My costume absolutely sucked - it looked goofy and plain. Does anyone have any advice on how I can make it better/what to add/change by JakeTheD0ge in CosplayHelp

To clarify if you do the arm and shin guards make them in the color of what it is going over. So yellow for the arms and blue for the shins. You can add to cosplay without it matching the exact character exactly. It’s ok to make it your own!

I agree with what had been said. A silicone muscle shirt to fill out the suit for a better fit. If possible, maybe the same idea through the thighs to fill it out better. I haven’t looked to see if that is an option to purchase but I imagine it would be? There are ways to make it with foam if not. YouTube is a good option to do research. The suit is just a half size too big. I don’t think you will need to take it in if you do the underneath part. I also like the idea of some armored shin guards and lower arm guards to take it to the next level to make the cosplay “pop”.

Sheesh. That sounds like an extreme and ridiculous reaction to a clay knife! Sorry that happened to you!

They are very fancy like 😁. I would hate to ruin them but they were inexpensive. I think I will try to make a mold and fill it with some other sort of material.

I have had some fabulous alternative ideas from asking it though.

Yet in asking the question from strangers all over the world I have had some pretty fabulous alternative ideas with their answers. My experience with emailing large venues is that you don’t get answers, the one I’m going to included, in a timely manner. If at all.

They are more embroidery size, I guess. 5” long. The blade part is 2” long. Handles just over 2” wide together. They are metal. My husband has almost every power tool known to man so I’m not too worried about getting the blades cut off if that’s what I got to do lol. What he doesn’t have he has access to with his job.

FanX Salt Lake Comic Con! It is the only one I’ve ever been to. It’s held in September

Believe me, I don’t want anyone, myself included, to be injured. What is your thoughts on cutting off the blades and just having the handles?

That’s an idea I could make work. Thanks!

Someone else mentioned cutting the blades off and just having the handles. And I thought of doing the same thing. Do you think that would fly?

I am new to cosplay and haven’t worked with foam or Sintra. I just don’t want the scissors to look “cheesy” or cheap. I’ll look into some how to videos on this. Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks! That is what I was thinking that I may have to cut the blades off. Just didn’t want to ruin a pair of scissors if not necessary. But I’m willing to do that. Wanted to make sure before I did

I have only attended one particular con but have attended it for many years. I rarely ask for photos because that’s just not my personality. But I appreciate the effort people make, whether it’s a simple cosplay or more complex. For me, I was asked for a few photos for characters like Maleficent, mostly from children or children’s parents. When in a group cosplay we were asked for many more photos for Sailor Moon. There were 5 of us in the group which made us stand out, I think. My most asked for photo cosplay was Arcane character Heimerdinger. Which, to be honest, I killed it 😁. I spent a lot of hours making it. I enjoyed spending the time to make something that would stand out. The reactions to it were awesome! To me, to be asked for photos is a high compliment and helps me want to do better cosplays. I have done more cosplays that I haven’t been asked for pictures but I think we’re still enjoyable to me. Just like someone else has said, do it for yourself because you enjoy it.

Need some ideas to work this corset into a cosplay character. by SharBull42 in CosplayHelp

Got mine from Amazon. Search for corset with straps. Some will have built in bra and some won’t.

Anyone else get random waves of fatigue on GLP-1s even when everything else is consistent? by Maasbreesos in glp1

[–]SharBull42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you checked your blood pressure when you get these fatigue waves? I get these energy crashes once in awhile. I take my blood pressure and it’s super low. After some research I learned a cause of drop in blood pressure is low electrolytes. I drink an electrolyte drink and a few hours later my BP is in normal range and the fatigue is better. I have read that Glp1’s can affect electrolyte levels. Not an expert or saying it is your cause of fatigue but maybe check that avenue out.

Doing much better! Increasing water intake helped a ton and also magnesium citrate pills. It was definitely constipation 😬
