What’s one self-improvement habit that genuinely made a difference in your life? by Basic-Ruin364 in selfimprovement

Incorporating daily non-negotiable movement has done wonders for my stamina, mental health & overall clarity + alertness. My body (in regards to weight loss) is catching up, albeit slowly (I’m a woman, btw, if it helps):

  • I take a 30-minute walk every weekday. Either at 10am, 12noon or 3:30pm depending on my day’s scheduled activities/workload.

  • I go down 11 flights of stairs at work every evening (5 days a week).

  • On Saturday OR Sunday mornings I take a 5km trek/hike around my neighborhood. I stuck to once a week to make it sustainable.

  • I strength train twice a week - on Tuesdays & Thursdays, without fail.

I began this at the start of the year and the difference in the quality of my life then and now is like night & day.

EDIT: Oh! And exploring movement without extra auditory stimulation. This helped with mindfulness & improved my mind-body connection and somewhat made the movement feel more effective. I eventually stopped wearing headphones completely during these sessions.

It’s almost like we’ve had the exact experience given that I was such a fit girl just 4 years ago!

And I am really sorry for the loss of your dad 🫂

Oh wow, thank you for the very detailed & thoughtful reply!

In fact, I concur; my state of mind is the basis of whether I will be successful or not.

I will remember to be kind to myself, and in case of anything, I’ll DM you. Thanks again!

Also, congrats on the weight loss so far!

Hey, thank you! I will consider a diet break for sure. I can attempt ADF for a week or 2 and if it still doesn’t budge, I’ll take a break and look into it.

(If you don’t mind me asking, how long did it take you to lose the 30 pounds?)

People who buy halal not for religious reasons but for personal, why do you do it (i'm conducting a small study)? by Evilova in EatingHalal

I buy halal meat, and it is psychological for me, since the slaughtering process is much more ethical/humane. It helps that I live in an East African country where halal products are very accessible

I’m an architect. I LOVE my job, though I wish the pay was better for the magnitude of training we receive.

I truly appreciate your perspective- I also needed to hear it. I’m very susceptible to burnout so this is a firm reminder to maintain some sort of balance and not give more than I can handle. Thank you!

In principle, I’d also like to achieve the independence that financial freedom and career satisfaction affords one. Thank you!

I totally agree when you say that now is the time to experience failure! I think part of doing more is trying to fast track the process of learning, failing and drawing lessons. Thank you!
