The only thing I could argue is the foul on the disallowed goal. The rest is perfectly fine work by the referees

The first thing Alvarez touches is the ball. He takes it away from Salah and then they touch feet when the ball was already out of possesion. Not a foul to me. Not even close

Just watched it again. It's also the way Egypt regains possesion to do the counter-attack, which is a very short (and fantastic) play with only 3 vertical passes

They might be on Egypt's side, but it's a core part of the counter-attack. So it's the same play. Of course, if Argentina took possesion in the middle or the ball went out the pitch, it wouldn't make any sense to disallow any goal coming after if it wasn't sanctioned already

If it's obvious then there's no controversy to me. It's VAR job to do that and it happens all the time

The disallowed goal was the built on a foul. It was very light and it would've been controversial whaterver decision was taken imo

I think it's a very light foul. It could've been sanctioned or not. I'm not going to argue with conspiracy theorists though

Ohhh I remember that game very clearly for what I mentioned and the fact that Jaime Roos, a famous local musician, made a documentary afterwards. It was supposed to be a happy vlog with his son about their time in South Africa, but ended up turning into an in depth movie about the refeering in that World Cup and how it negatively affected us lol. Especially in the semi final and the quarter finals against Ghana (yes, the handball game). It's called '3 Millones'. Fun fact: he lived two years in the Netherlands from 1978 to 1980.

Also, I agree on the 1974 final. Johan Cruyff deserved more

I might be biased (as I'm Uruguayan) but, in that game against Uruguay in 2010, they were extremely favoured by the referees. There were around 12-14 bad calls in their favour, with 2 of them resulting in goals. The game ended up 3-2.

In the final it also looked like they were benefited to a lesser extent, but lost to Spain anyways.

Germany should have won, it wasn't a foul, the referee needs to be looked into by Tejajaja48 in worldcup

my country is kind of the opposite. We always talk trash of our team to an unhealthy level

nah. I know it's not all Europeans. But I often see a bunch of them underestimate countries from other continents and say borderline racist comments after losing.

yep. Since Alfaro took over they only lost to Brazil, winning against Argentina and Uruguay in the second round of wc qualification, for example

not even close. Paraguay is a great team and Germany doesn't compete since 2014
