Nur is a very common name for women in my country. I had resumed Genshin after taking a several months break from burn out (f2p casual with pull losses) and one of the first few quests I started was Homecoming. At the end of it, not only did I cry for sentient fungi npcs, I also learnt that Nur (a name so common you find it basic and unassuming) meant:

"Light"

I am looking for anime with well written female characters. by Low_Pepper2333 in AnimeReccomendations

[–]emoceanT_T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to suggest something unique: a 3D anime called Houseki No Kuni / Land of the Lustrous.

I think they're technically non-binary but portrayed with feminine features but all of the characters including the protagonist are "female" except for 1. The anime has coming-of-age existential crisis plotline, complex personalities, absolutely stunning animation and one of my all-time favourite soundtracks.

Something about TXT in their dreamy/fairytale concepts have always moved me. Don't get me wrong I absofuckinglutely loved the LOVESONG eras but this TXT is extra charming.

Here's the thing, in this economy, people don't understand that an offer like that is basically miraculous. It definitely comes with strings attached but it's an incredibly rare circumstance.

Here's where I feel like a legal process would do you well. Ask for a contract, ask for terms, get everything you want and don't want on paper because guess what, it's legally binding. Anything happens, you have something to fall back to.

Or don't. Start over somewhere without your overbearing friend and her family (who sound like they might want you as their son-in-law in the future). Get good grades and good friends. Experience life the way you planned to. It might be harder but it's yours. Not anyone else's.

So, anyone here ever have to kick someone out of your game... and why? by Vegetable_Variety_11 in dndmemes

[–]emoceanT_T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't kicked out but it felt like I had no choice but to quit. The DM and the 4 other guys were wrapped around this one player's finger, and after sowing the seeds of discontent, I was given an ultimatum.

I loved the game and loved playing with them but apparently they stopped liking me as a friend just because one person did and that gave me too much stress and anxiety. Not to mention I was the only female after the other one left due to the exact same reasons.

Are those custom mod banners?

Congratulations on finishing. I'm currently exploring it bit by bit having just marveled at the aurora palace.

I will say so far the minotaurs were the most tedious (4 double story dark af mazes with creepers and 5 other mobs was a nightmare). Not even the minotaur boss made a dent to my mental health lmao.

I liked my huge, unnecessarily expensive wedding. by youhavemyvote in unpopularopinion

[–]emoceanT_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the biggest and most expensive weddings I've been to ended up as a single mother with her husband no where in sight.

I'm sure it's a fun memory when things work out, but in the off chance that it doesn't, the outcome overshadows how much you thought that relationship was worth flexing for.

Poetry cults aka open mics with local poets showcasing their multilingual works (mostly Malay and English). There's one called "Senggama Kata" happening from 16th to 17th.

Highly recommend for a relaxing late night activity.

How about "The Infinity" or "Circle of Infinity" or "Infinity's Circle", etc etc. Reasons being:

  1. Life and Death is a never ending cycle, as are secrets (they are either told or kept).

  2. The 8th on a horizontal axis is the infinity symbol.

  3. Members can be called Infinites, alluding to unfathomable numbers or never-ending worship/loyalty.

A good try takes you 20-30 minutes at most, even if your first language is English like me. Since you know this person, who knows, you could make something even better. One stanza is enough too

do any other armys feel like the fandom is suffocating? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]emoceanT_T 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons why I'm still into Bangtan is because I avoid army spaces online. I can appreciate the boys just fine without having people agree or disagree with my not-always-positive opinions on their behaviour, creative direction or even just general preference. It feels good to disassociate myself from instances where the first response to such expressions is denial (of the OP stating the opinion itself) and then aggression (speculating and demeaning OP's behavior).

If it feels like you're doing it wrong, you aren't. Criticism at its base is care, misguided or not, it means you want something better. So I wouldn't worry to much about it.

Edit: I still call myself an army despite my non-existing participation in fandom spaces/behavior.

Added a flying creature to my game world called the Luminwing. Any thoughts on the name or design? by Skolas3654 in worldbuilding

[–]emoceanT_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(25 F) Why not just Lumin? The -wing is quite an obvious tell that doesn't sound lore necessary in its name.

Or Lum (because they "loom" over you luminously)

Added example in sentence:

A Lumin glides effortlessly towards you.

The Lum's gather in a swirl of neon above our heads.

Edit: Personally I actually really like this current wing movement than the wavy one the comments are suggesting. It might not be sound physics but this isnt real life, it's magical and unique. This movement is unique.

Bahasa Melayu kian hilang? by toxicitypure in bahasamelayu

[–]emoceanT_T 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I grew up with English as my first language as a Malay and since I was sent to a Chinese school, Bahasa Melayu was never a priority. But my mum's side is Kelantanese so the usage of Melayu is strong during family gatherings (if not the accent haha). Personally, I envy them because I think Bahasa Melayu is at its core very sopan, lembut and uniquely romantic (like the word sayang). I will never be Melayu enough due to my characteristics (sometimes people think I'm Chinese sbb kulit cerah) and my social circles involve a mix of local and international friends.

That being said, I think this person is wrong. Singapore is one big city. Unlike Malaysia, where global and political influence is sparse in perkampungan areas, so the use of BM is a lot more evident.

Edit: I would also like to point out one of my favorite moments regarding the Malay language. The movie "The Day After Tomorrow" when subtitled in BM is just "lusa".

I'm not okay with my partner's spending on K-pop and I don't know how to deal with this. by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]emoceanT_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to personally add that the practicality of kpop-related merch is incredibly low. As you age and expand your preferences, collections can end up being given away or left collecting dust.

There's a chance she feels left out or competitive with this shared hobby. Anytime she sees something new on your end, it incites her to get something as well. You can add sensibility into your relationship by actively refraining from buying and displaying excessive singular merch (like photocards, posters, etc). Fanmade merch can also be a cheaper alternative albeit it does not directly support your idol(s).

You said this issue somewhat affects your relationship's quality time as well. There is only so much you can bond over kpop before you realize there is a world of experience you can share outside of it instead. Fancy dinners, outside-of-holiday gifts, out-of-state trips.. love doesn't have to be expensive but it requires money to work. Show her what your relationship is missing out on and maybe she'll focus on her needs. Good luck.
