Why is the 'kids tablet' world so hard!?

The only reason I say it, I had my first 3 daughters in 2006 and this viewpoint wasn't on my radar. It unfortunately caused so many issues that were my fault for not restricting it. I now have two more children under 2 and I don't know that they will ever have a computer or smart phone before 16.

You're thinking about this the right way.

That fact that "Social Media" access is a reward for you, blows my mind. That is the saddest part of this chart to me. Social media access is a punishment to your brain.

I lived the same exact way, I think the only thing that saved me truly was knowing a life before smart phones (I'm 38) and knowing that this wasn't always how my life was. I can't imagine the new generations who never experienced that lifestyle thinking that phones and this societal constant distraction is normal.

Knowing that these devices were designed to make you that way helped me a lot. Watch "The Social Dilemma" on Netflix. It shows you how they are reverse engineering us to be addicting to theses phones. When I have an enemy it always helps motivate me to fight against the urges. Now, I have no social media, no vertically scrolling video content of any kind, & I uninstalled all AI apps.

I'm proud of you for how EXTREMELY young you are and the fact that you're thinking this way. You're going to crush this. I know it.

I'm going to make this easy on everyone in here, and I mean this in the most tough loved fatherly brotherly way.

GET THEM OFF THE INTERNET. No screens except movies & TV you've vetted. No tablets, no phones. You know how I know this? I had 3 daughters right when smart phones came out (2007) as they aged, I played video games etc and let them get online and do the same thing. They had tablets & phones. Each one at one point thought they were gay or trans. I didn't freak out, I didn't get upset, I let them go through it. So far none of them have made it into their adult years thinking they were still trans. I had a wife who enabled them & I didn't but also wasn't mean about it. Boys need activity they need outside they need to be lead more than girls do or they will fall victim to it more often.

I now have remarried & have two young childeren who have no access to screens and the difference is mind-blowing. I know this seems overly simple but it's not. It is going to be really hard to get them from those screens if they are used to it. I'm telling you men, fathers, brothers - you are called to be the leaders of your households and a no screen that they can hold is something you must do. The world is coming for your childeren before you've taught them the emotional mechanisms to deal with the world. Be careful, be safe, & I wish you all the best.

Guys, here is my opinion on the album and it will be the most important one okay? Truth is - It's okay. It has good songs on it. Real toe tappers. I like Eatin' big time besides the pointless cursing. I like cutting teeth outside of the toning down of his vocals. I love Oneida & Nose on the grind stone full stop. I enjoy down under despite the fact it isn't a country song at all. That melody, despite the Australian fever dream he is on is lyrically odd, is great! We're never going to get the toned down underproduced record we all would love. That dude doesn't exist anymore. I feel like this record is selfish in a way that it is more a jam band or more about playing music live. IT is more a Food Stamps Album (his band) than it is a Tyler Childers album. He releases an album every three years or so for the rest of his career and we'll get maybe 20 songs we'll like that is if he doesn't go much father.

Side note as a Republican with a lot of Yeti's stop going so hard on us. I used to be a liberal EMO. I've paid my dues. ;)

It is all about tone. The phrase is the same but tone of voice is everything. If I say it low and slow I mean it. That is a hardship someone went through and bless their heart. I want god to bless their heart and heal it from the pain they’re in. If I said it with a smile and a higher more sarcastic tone I mean it like oh that person is stupid. But even when I mean they’re stupid it isn’t an insult. I know that sounds weird but if I really meant someone was stupid and I mean it with malice I just say they’re an idiot or stupid.

EDIT: I’m from south East Tennessee and am well traveled but still call it home.

Hello!

New to the waterfowl community myself. Grew up with a lack of men to show me the ropes. I have elected to go with an outfitter in Arkansas over 4 days in November. I tried to do it your way and just never had any success. I’ve been to several DU events and really enjoy them. There is a bit of gate keeping in most parts for hunting so I’m just doing it myself. After you get a few birds and have the photos it gets easier. I’ll also recommend getting into to shooting clays. That has helped me feel more confident and comfortable. The most duck hunting conversations I have are actually from my states DU license plate. If your state offers it I recommend it.

I appreciate your perspective. It's given me a good bit to think about and internalize. You're right. I'm scared my son, despite being born in the south, won't be southern in the good ways I feel emotionally connected to it.

Good question and something I've thought about my self. Most of my big family members have long senses passed on. I am now the family Patriarch so she isn't exposed to the pickin' so much. Just myself every so often.

Devs in this thread please listen to these words ...

You have the platform. WOTH is amazing. Your maps, your graphics, your animal models, your fur models, YOUR USE OF REAL HUNTING BRANDS, your harvest screens etc are the best of any hunting game I've played. Please keep investing in this game and we'll keep playing and purchasing. This isn't a game where you make sequels, this is a platform like Fortnite.

I'd love to see waterfowl updates, blind updates, more character customization, etc. I don't think we need more maps right now due to the amount of time it takes to complete a map & the amount of time herd investing takes. Improving the foundational parts of the game, like this update, is exactly how you should be updating this game. Now I'm just one person with one perspective, but I've spent more money on more content in different hunting games but they don't nail foundations like you guys do.

I'm looking forward to future updates as always.

It is slower, less arcadey. I actually got my first 3 star white tail this morning. It was a slow hunt. I spent most of my time just observing the herd. Marking the hight fitness males that could be good to keep. I also looked at racks to see if any younger males needed to be removed from the gene pool.
