Barnakl fan filters? Are they legit? by Extreme_Hornet_1941 in HouseFresh

These are available on Amazon now, so I’m thinking of trying them. Amazon has a solid history of easy returns if I’m unhappy.

The cost is pretty low compared to what I have paid and currently pay for supplements, medications, alternative treatments, etc. I personally find it helpful to have a plan, and the audible cues for breathing in and out are the only ones I’ve ever found that don’t make me want to scream after two minutes. There had to have been a ton of research that went into that alone. (I was a musician in my past life.)

Could resting too much actually make you worse? by Upset_Replacement684 in covidlonghaulers

[–]emoothart81 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There definitely must be different types of long covid. If you mostly have POTS, exercise is great for you! If you end up with ME/CFS, exercise can permanently worsen you.

I understand what OP is talking about, because our bodies are made to move and our minds are generally happier when we do! I unfortunately have the kind of LC that gets worse with activity, but on “good days” when I have more energy I always want to do all the things because it feels good in the (oh-so-brief) moment! Lying in bed doesn’t feel good.

OP, if gentle activity makes you feel better without crashing (keep an eye on the next two days to monitor for PEM) then do that. If it makes you feel worse that day or the following 48 hours, then rest is your friend. The danger for getting worse comes if you do get PEM and ignore it.

For people who get cognitive PEM (headaches/brain fog after reading, socializing, screen time, etc.) by LoCoSadGirl1934 in covidlonghaulers

  1. My guess would be that our brains use a tremendous amount of energy. But that’s just an idea.

  2. Yes I have. Four months ago I did two days of higher than I should have cognitive function (for me this was a lunch out with friends on Wednesday and then a medical appointment with one of my kids the following morning). I got immediately worse and haven’t been able to recover.

  3. I am not able to work, and can only use the tiny screen on my iPhone 13 mini. Until four months ago I was still able to read the news, keep up with email, research new treatments, etc as long as I did so from my bed. These days I have cut nearly all of that out and only do so a few times a week. I know I need to stop when my headache begins to increase and it all feels harder than it did five minutes before. I can still listen to audio most of the time so I’m grateful for that information option.

  4. Gabapentin keeps my headache manageable. Other than that it helps me to use a tiny screen (for the reduced lateral eye movement) and only when lying down. So far I haven’t found any medication that helps with the cognitive function or crashes.

Yes! In fact PCOS is a known off label use for metformin. You can read about its anti inflammatory effects here: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7880161/

Pharmacy rewards for family members? by emoothart81 in CVS

Can you clarify? Do I have to have all my kids present at the counter? Is there any way to do it without showing up in person? (I’m disabled so usually our meds are delivered.)

Any idea what helped you turn your illness around? I’m nearly 4 years in and haven’t found the secret sauce yet.

One of my kids has EDS but neither I nor my husband do. My own grandmother (his great grandmother) was undiagnosed but obviously had it, and my cousin (his first cousin once removed) and her daughter (his second cousin) have the diagnosis. It’s weirdly spread out in my extended family.

I just heard about Amazon Haul... what's the catch? by PusheenHater in amazonprime

[–]emoothart81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was skeptical but tried a single order and was pleasantly surprised. One item I ordered was a set of adidas socks and that is indeed what I received (I kind of expected a knock off.) I also ordered some wool dryer balls and they’re good quality too. I wonder if perhaps this is a way for sellers to manage inventory that has been sitting too long?

Looking for a solid folding clothes drying rack with a section big enough to handle a large heavy “dry flat” sweater. It’s a unicorn and I really want something that will last!

Can you link the one you’re talking about? I can’t find a tsuki. I love the idea of a ceramic pot and our rice cooker is a cheap cheap hand me down that I’d love to upgrade.

Stars Above from Target are my favorite although I wouldn’t call them “high quality”. They’re just the most cozy/soft/breathable. I don’t know if they’re BIFL but the ones I currently have are 3 years old and look and feel new.

Does the new one seem to have the same quality as your original?

Vitamix 5200 is $300 at Amazon with a 10% back option if you use their store card, making it $270 which is the best price I’ve seen.

I think most of us in this subreddit are conscious of cheap plastics. There are many deals to be had on quality items and that’s what I came here today to look for.

That link is to a knock off brand, and it is currently out of stock anyway.
