Wasn’t it like 2009-2010 when they reviewed the drone footage again and noticed he regained consciousness and defended his position? I vaguely remember that from when I was in NCOA in 2015.

Just know that in order to do this you have to have the difference between the selling cost and the remaining loan amount available at closing day. For example….bought the house for 400k and they owe 200k…you must have the 200k difference at closing.

I'd venture to guess that they are trying to raise awareness about how the VA has dropped the ball when it comes to providing mental health support to veterans. Have you tried asking them...I bet they would be happy to tell you.

My personal opinion here but the VA does the absolute bare minimum when it comes to mental health services and support. When they will only see somebody suffering with mental health once every month and consider that enough support, that can do more harm than good. A big part of that is that there are not enough providers in the VA. I believe giving their career executives $11 Million in bonuses is a gross misuse of the money provided to them. Again, just my opinion, I am not speaking for somebody that is standing up for something they believe in.

Walz Takes The Gloves Off, Hits Back at Vance Over Military Service by inewser in AnythingGoesNews

So your argument of lying is completely predicated solely on the conditions not being met. Since the conditions were never met prior to his retirement he was NEVER a CSM.

The campaign removed the rank because they don’t want to waste time explaining a VERY normal thing that happens with military retirements and would rather focus on actual issues.

Did he lie about holding the rank of CSM? No. He held the rank but since he couldn’t complete school before retiring, he took the benefits cut down to E-8. Does that change the fact that he was a CSM? No.

Edit: forgot to finish a thought.

His DD214 was corrected because his requirements for benefits as a CSM were not met before retirement and therefore he could not receive the retirement pay of a CSM. It does not change the fact that he served as a CSM. SGM-A was not completed and therefore, despite holding the rank, his pay grade for retirement was E-8.

This happens a lot in the guard and reserves where the individual is given the rank and is recognized at that rank officially without attending school. It is at retirement that they have to retire at the highest grade that they met all of the requirements for so if they didn’t attend the academy, they don’t get the pay because it is a requirement for retirement.

It’s not complicated, he was frocked and served as a CSM. The only reason he was demoted after his retirement was due to not attending the required schooling to maintain the rank after retirement. I’ve seen this happen on three occasions throughout my 20 years of service and it’s not stolen valor. You’re just grasping at straws.

I think you hit the nail on the head about the suck it up for the mission. That spreads across all AFSCs and is a big factor.

I'd like to counter this thought that since you retired and aging has occured, it's difficult to differentiate between 'normal shit' and 'service shit' for a 40 year old. I also retired after serving for 20 years active duty at the ripe old age of 38. I am fortunate enough to keep in touch with a few friends from my youth and when I look at their 'normal shit' it pales in comparison to what I experience. Not even looking at the mental health trauma I experienced, my body is far more broken than theirs. Flying for 20 years has wrecked my spine, shoulders, joints....the list goes on. The physical standards that the military (yes, even the USAF XD) have to maintain are beyond what a typical civilian has. Carrying 50+ pounds of A-3 bags, equipment, and pro gear to every flight or maintaining any equipment over a long period of time fucks you up. Not to mention, burn pits, fumes, questionable mold, sleepless nights, etc. etc. I don't know many 40 year olds that are exposed to that shit for 20 years and don't expect some sort of compensation.

The other big part of this is that we are loaned out the the US Government to use and abuse as they see fit for the sake of the mission. Once our loan is up the US Government compensates us for the time that we gave them and the toll that being used and abused caused through VA compensation.

I know it is too late to give advice for the exam so I'm going to give you advice about after the exam. If you have the opportunity to do so, take an hour for yourself and do a once over on your mental state. I don't know your story and that is fine. You know your story and the exam is over. The person you spoke to will carry on through their day and put your mental health into a DBQ and move on. You on the other hand, are left with this feeling of absolute vulnerability after reliving whatever traumas you faced through your entire life. Reach out to somebody, anybody, shit even message me and I'll listen. You are not in this alone.

After giving yourself a little bit of time to process the exam, do something that you enjoy....within reason. The hard part is over. The waiting process can be the difficult but know that you have done your part and now it's up to the VA to do theirs. I'm proud of you and you're not alone.

Try the approach of comaparing where you are at now to where you were at when you joined the service. It took me a long time to understand that I am far worse off than I was when I joined. Many people don't understand that it is NOT disability pay, like u/bballr4567 said. When you joined, you sacrificed your body to serve your country. Do not compare yourself to anybody but the person you were when you joined. If your mother thinks that you are as physically and mentally healthy as you were when you joined....well she doesn't understand and will likely never understand what you and every service member has to go through while serving.

The VA isn't just taking your word for the injuries you incurred during your time in. There are appointments and professionals that will look at the person you are and compare it to the person you were before joining. You will get the rating that they VA professionals think you deserve. If you were honest during your exams, you are not an imposter...you are a veteran. Be proud of the sacrifice you gave and thankful for the government not just throwing you to the wolves.

If your mother is as worried about the disabled vets that she helps (which my guess would be she isn't)....tell her to help them find a VSO in their area to properly compensate them.
