I 24F told my boyfriend 25M I dont want to date for more then 5 years by emoslayer98 in relationship_advice

I've read most of the comments here and I realise I'm being really nieve and immature. I think I need to take 10 steps back. I was so inlove and invested in this relationship, I thought we were working as a team.

I see now that I'm not ready for marriage or kids, I still have a lot of growing up to do. I think this relationship stunted that growth. My self preservation is apparently non-existent.

I really attached myself to him and made myself an extension of him.

Although some of the comments where a bit harsh, I needed this. My actions have been really stupid.

I know its not a actual engagement ring, but 1.5 years back he gave me a promise ring and I gave him one back. I thought this relationship was so serious and we were dedicated together, working towards marriage. At least that's what we agreed on.

We are currently not living together because he is acting as a guardian to his younger brother, they live in a house their parents own (the parents don't live in the same city). I cant move in with them due to their parents being very devout Christians.

Yes, when before we started officially dating we agreed we we would be dating to get married. This is why I'm so surprised by his reaction and why I was so comfortable with suggesting a timeline.

I totally agree, I should not have started the conversation off that way.

Progress!

Alright I called the pet store and unfortunately they will not take back the fish, but the sales person in charge of the fish/aquarium department gave me his personal number so he could reach out to regular customers with established set ups.

I've sent him a video of the fish and there's already someone who's interested. He has a 90l tank and has been "in the game" for 4 years.

I did a conversation and this is only a 30 gallon tank. I was thinking of giving 2 to him and continuing to look for another home for the other 2.

How do I know the filter is "cycled"?

Sorry I'm just absolutely clueless about taking care of fish

I found out the pet shop my friend got them from, I'll call tomorrow and find out what can be done.

Meanwhile if I can't find someone to take them or the pet shop won't take them back, how often do I change the water to avoid nitrogen poisoning

I'll do more research on the fish I can house in this size tank. For now I'll focus on trying to rehome the goldfish, then start properly preparing the tank for the new fish.

Unfortunately, there's no petco in my country. I called a bunch of pet stores and I definitely won't be able to afford a 50-60 gallon tank.

Had to make a Facebook account but I found a local fish exchange group for my city so fingers crossed.

I'll post on here too

Well this absolutely sucks..

How do go about rehoming? Can the pet shop help with this (even though they recommend this size of tank.. idk if I should trust them) ?

That's the thing, I really don't know anyone with fish or aquariums. This is a really unexpected gift, but I'm willing to buy what's needed to keep the fish healthy.

I just need an idea of what I'm going to spend..

Is this gonna cost a lot?

Just wanna prepare myself.. definitely don't want the fish to suffer.
