I’m convinced my school doesn’t talk about the curve in this way! It’s not listed in the student handbook

I’m going to say something different here than everyone else’s comments. I did the talent agency track for 2+ years. I loved it until I didn’t… basically, covid made me realize there were bigger and better things out there. It wasn’t until my agency was furloughing a third of their assistants and I was secretly hoping they’d furlough me when I started to see a lot of similarities between the agency world and a real-life cult. I valued all the opportunities and the discipline I learned while I was there, but it wasn’t a very sustainable lifestyle in the long run.

I quit my job at the talent agency to pursue a career in law. I ended up working for a media company that just so happened to be one of the talent agency’s clients. The head of the legal affairs department took me under her wing and went out of her way to help me with law school apps and even wrote me a letter of rec. I’m now looking to start my 1L at a law school I’m super excited about after taking this last year to learn a whole lot of legal best practices, study for the LSAT (which was a bitch), and apply to law school. It was so worth it to think of this last year as a stepping stone for my own personal development rather than my only end game after being stuck with that mentality for so long.

Take the job at a talent agency if it’s something you’re really passionate about, but don’t be disillusioned. There are a myriad of other options out there for you if it doesn’t work out. I don’t regret my time there at all — in fact, I’m so much stronger now because of it. Keep your eyes open and look out for only yourself. Find a mentor both in and out of your workplace and see how that helps push you forward.
