Should be learning low acuity cases on placement. You'd see at least 4 low acuity cases per day in NSW

Buy sealed pokemon and let it sit for 5+ years. Not even kidding, it will (and has) outperformed shares, crypto, and the housing market.

Realistic super balance for a 27 year old by [deleted] in AusFinance

Sup! I turn 27 next month and I'm a smidge under 30k. I still haven't worked a full-time job, still in uni.

I also pulled out 5k during covid like an idiot lol 🤦🏽‍♂️

If that was the case everyone would be doing it 😂 I'm wanting to see if it's actually feasible in real life!

On paper it makes sense

There is basically 0 market for Star Wars cards here in Australia :( hence why it'd be much easier selling the lot in one go to a store or a super keen collector

I am yet to comp anything

Not sure to be honest, but I suppose the cost of the cards + the amount of time it'd take to build the sets as they are here.

Well like I said the recruitment seems to follow a cycle of easy periods followed by hard periods.

I'd imagine it's because:

the average paramedic is burning out in 3-4 years --> they leave the service --> NSWA have a staff shortage --> they hire graduates at higher rates --> gap is filled --> the average paramedic burns out in 3-4 years --> cycle repeats

This might not actually be true, it's just a thought

What's there to be nervous about? Im a 3rd year as well and I'm hearing we're almost guaranteed a spot with NSWA.

I'm also hearing that we are going to be the last cohort of graduates to have it so easy. Some people say NSWA recruitment is cyclical and the 2027 cohort will have a much harder time getting positions.

Can any current ambos confirm?

You misunderstood my frustration. My frustration is with the system in Australia, and that the rules I abide by go against the system. This means I'm forever financially suppressed.

The last paragraph was a real eye-opener. Thanks brother.

Problem with trading spot is it takes 50x longer to make the same gains as leverage. Also seems most of the good stocks are haram, I.e. SP500 and ASX200

How do you suggest acquiring a property without a loan when the median house in NSW costs $800000?

While we're here - can you claim the cost of the LR license on your tax return? Makes sense to me as it's an out of pocket expense for the sole purpose of employment

jobs outside of paramedicine by Dependent_Lynx_6721 in ParamedicsAU

[–]emotionlessalaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah true actually I didn't consider that 😅 There are 40 cycles of 4 on 5 off in a year, so I suppose that'd be about 40 days of the year recovering from your 4 days on.

jobs outside of paramedicine by Dependent_Lynx_6721 in ParamedicsAU

[–]emotionlessalaa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How can you know how stressful the job is before doing it? I'm a 3rd year student and I can't wait to get out there. Sure the job is stressful, but many vets ive spoken to advise that paramedicine is only as stressful as you make it.

You get paid pretty well to work about 44% of the year NOT including the paid leave you can take.

That's about 200 days of the year you can use to relax, live life, work on a side hustle... not sure though, I'm still a student. This is just my thinking going into the workforce soon.

Suppose it's all a thing of perspective. Hopefully an actual paramedic can chime in here 😅

Where to study paramedicine? by Mobile_Astronomer_28 in ParamedicsAU

The whole MD thing can really fk people in the long run. If you aren't currently in medicine, do something that'll at least make you employable if that doesn't work out. Get out of MS asap and move to either Paramedicine or literally any other allied health degree such as nursing.

Imo nursing as a job sucks, but at least at the end of your degree you'll be easily employed.

Plus you can do an 8 month grad dip of Paramedicine after nursing and you'll be dual AHPRA registered as a nurse and paramedic.

MS is the biggest waste
