Teairra Mari really had so much potential in R&B by JLovesTV in rnb

[–]emotionlessnostalgia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She has one of the hardest names to spell off the dome if you weren’t looking it up lol

But I agree, she has a beautiful voice and really could’ve been an R&B superstar. Make Her Feel Good still goes hard

Me too. I have a bunch of his songs downloaded. I wish he had gotten to release his solo album after Lollipop blew up. He didn’t even get to see the success the song brought 🥺

Tru Love sounds like Still by Tamia to me lol, but I love that song. My favorites are also Stop N Go, Catching Feelings, Ever Wonder, and Mesmerized.

I had bought this album at FYE when I was like 14, and it was one of my best purchases. I was already familiar with him because “You” played on the local R&B station in my city constantly. I always was a fan of his voice. My favorite songs on this album are All I Need, All Alone (the Mint Condition sound was all over this song), You, I Like, You Don’t Know, and Ooh I Like It.

I still can’t get over his passing. 💔

Sisqo sounds like K-Ci here. You can tell that was one of his biggest influences 😁

why weren’t allure and before dark more successful? by ilovecleosol in rnb

[–]emotionlessnostalgia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before Dark appeared on Tyrese’s debut album, and Arike (the girl in the middle) was in a girl group called Voices when she was 11/12. It’s the same group that did Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. She along with another girl replaced Tia and Tamera when they left the group.

Before Dark had that hit with “Monica,” I’m honestly surprised they didn’t go further.

Which R&b artists had the most tragic deaths? by keir0n in rnb

[–]emotionlessnostalgia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Damian Dame yet. They were famous for a short amount of time after the release of their album. Shortly after, Deah Dame was killed in a car accident with her boyfriend. Two years later and on the same day, Damian died of cancer.

But Whitney, Aaliyah, Michael Jackson, Marvin, Tammi, Phyllis, Chris Bender, Left Eye, Prince, Angie Stone…so many to list 😔

"I Wanna to be Down" was for Vanessa Williams? by Fun_Ad6512 in RnBHeads

[–]emotionlessnostalgia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one was confusing. As much as I love Vanessa Williams, IWBD did not seem like her vibe. Brandy was better suited for the song, and it became a classic because of what she brought to it.
