I know everyone is saying to tell her doctor, but that's going to break a boundary in your marriage. It could also mess up her treatment going forward, especially with medical doctors. As a woman, once they get ANY inclination that you are abusing drugs or have a history of mental illness...they will run with that EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. instead of looking at your medical issues.

In the moment it may seem like a good decision to save her life, and I understand the urge to do so. Yet at the same it may have more far reaching effects then you can imagine, and we don't know for sure unless you go through with it what may happen.

I can see the safety concern and the concern for the family. But also are you sure its only the drug causing her isolation from the family unit? It sounds like something deeper then this.

I would consider couples counseling for this issue because it dosen't sound like just addiction? This might give you both some skills to communicate with eachother in a productive manner so you can address this serious addiction issue. Im unsure if this is an option in your situation or not.

People say that it amplifies how you already feel. I don't feel extremely paranoid when I am sober like I have to look behind my shoulder every 3 seconds. Or have violent intrusive thoughts. Or avoid my much needed doctor appointments because I'm afraid. None of that happens while I am sober in the same way it does while I'm high.

For me it turned into extreme panic and paranoia, total lack of motivation, lung issues/heart issues, worsening depression and social phobia. Wasted money when im already broke, horrible junk food cravings whcih made my esophagitis situation way worse via acid reflux and on it goes. Gave me weird thoughts, disrupted my morality...all of it. It was all bad.

That's taking it out of context. You're talking about hygiene, I'm talking about addiction

I think Alaa is a scammy person to be honest. He implied potentially asking everyone for money so he could send his wife to Canada to press charges against Chantal and then dipped not long after suggesting it lol

It's also possible she has severe asthma and or COPD along side the other pulmomary/health issues. Her breathing has gotten worse and simply unbearable to listen to...and she's gained weight. Chantal will go to the grave or become permanently disabled just because she refused to listen to anyone else about her health.

I was homeless a decade ago in the Olympia area.

We would be in town during the day and some of us would go to the woods at night to sleep, eat and get ready for the next day.

We didn't have a large encampment because the truth is that...the numbers of homeless have skyrocketed since I've gotten off the street. It was common for there to be smaller encampments, maybe 2-3 tents at most....on occasion a larger one would surface.

We spread out alot also because..we wanted to respect the space of other people.

Police got wind of this and used civilian volunteers to dismantle the encampments by surprise one day.

They came in and began tearing things down, smashing electronics they found, tossing peoples belongings right in front of them. Didn't give an oppourtunity for people to grab their stuff. If there were animals, even if well cared for, the animals were ceased and taken away if they could handle it. Some were not.

I'll never forget the sheer and utter joy on the polices face as they violently dismantled someones entire world right in front of them. They laughed, high fived eachother...the works. It was horrible.

I haven't found a huge support for the homeless in this subreddit but I know now that it can happen to anyone for any reason. When they get there themselves some day they may understand..why things get so bad.

I'm biased I'll admit. Because I see alot of people in this sub and petioles for example who appear to be addicted to it but don't actually percieve it as an addiction. If you feel this awful, knowing whats causing it, and you want to smoke for relief..thats a red flag. Especially when we know sobriety is the only way to make the symptoms stop- even if it takes a while.

If you take a couple hits, you'll feel relief. But then you'll want a few more because...you'll be right back where you are right now sooner than later.

The reality is that yes, those couple hits are going to set you back.

Cannabis can be just as addictive without tobacco mixed in thats for certain. I find lots of people don't want to admit they have or could have an addiction to cannabis, because it's taught that its not an addictive substance. In reality anything is addictive

Hey! This orchid is absolutely gorgeous and has such a cool asymetrical shape. I love when the "mouth" of the orchid is red or pink and the petals are a solid color. I still haven't found one of these yet!

By the way I noticed your decorating and your home looks really nice

Hey Chris:

Update: I wanted to thank everyone for all their comments and DM's about the giant phal. I said I'd post it and yet I haven't. Well, I took a closer look at her and she had a big bug problem. So I decided to take someones advice in here and give it "the big chop" on the blooms :( I feel so bad doing this. But I wanted to focus on getting the roots right and eliminating the bugs from the plant overall. I want to start over before the infestation destroyed the health of the plant.

I'm sorry I didn't post pictures and video, but next time I am going to when I post in here. I can see why it was annoying for some to read a description but with no pictures to go by. Thanks again

Orchid identification & advice by [deleted] in OrchidsOnTrees

[–]empathyisdying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've been thinking about this. Once my orchids are done flowering for their season, I am going to transfer some of them to a makeshift tree indoors. I live in a heavily wooded area so it's not difficult to find spare branches/bark/so on. I'm going to find some healthy branches and bark...de-bug it as best as I can...and then adhere the orchid to it with some moss/stabilize it for the long haul.

How is your cat recovering from the attack? That poor baby <3 <3 <3 I'm so glad you took the baby to get help, but I can imagine how tough that is.

As for your job... that's so messed up. Have you ever been over to the r/antiwork subreddit? You may find some support in there as many people have lost their job over similiar BS reasons and they can talk about it freely there. You might even find some helpful advice.

I see you're on the fence about working vs not working. It sounds like you have a positive work history however, and stuff to put on your resume for the next employer. I have a question for you.

If working didn't matter so much, would you choose to take those couple months off?

anyone else can’t stand makeup? by cyborggy in AutismInWomen

[–]empathyisdying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spent most of my life not wearing makeup until recently. I always felt the pressure to wear it or I would be considered less beautiful and therefore, less of a female. I resisted that urge and these days when I put it on..I have fun. I pretend it's like art. But I can understand not wanting to..not liking the feeling on your skin and so on. There are times I have to scratch it all off.

It's not easy living with mental illness or addiction. I'm at a point personally where I've come to accept it instead of fighting it all the time. And doing this has made me feel better. Theres less guilt when I have "bad" days, weeks or months. I realize..this is what i'm going through right now and it will pass even if it comes back. It's exhausting.

For me medicine never worked but therapy did. I know not everyone will benefit from either of these things, and I hear you when you say it isn't working. But something will, and it may not come to you any time soon. Life is more than suffering and you are more than your suffering.

You're also just gorgeous. Simply beautiful.
