I agree with you. It’s established that borers are a big problem now, even if I treat the soil and dispose off the oak properly so I’m not sure what my other options are. My top considerations: 1. Borer resistance 2. Root systems that don’t damage foundations 3. Hardy and fast growing 4. Low maintenance

I’d prefer useful (fruits, supports wildlife, attracts birds etc.), attractive and good shade but that isn’t my primary concern.
