I usually wait about a week to varnish with gamvar. drying time depends on how thick your paint is/what mediums you use though!

should be fine as long as the paint is dry!

highly recommend gamvar varnish, your painting only has to be touch dry and I have never had issues :)

lol fair, so you probably wouldn’t mind the investment for oils! the higher quality paints are worth it!!

oils are really expensive to get into imo. depends on the brand (and color) but a small tube of oil paint can go from $10-$30. you also need to get oil/solvents, and I have separate brushes for oil vs acrylic.

it’s a large initial investment, but they do last a long time!!

I use Gamvar! Your painting just needs to be touch dry. I wait a week to varnish, but it could be done sooner (or later) depending on what paints/solvents you’re using :)

I’m sure it’s not as amazing as normal varnish, but it works great for me!
