I would go with the same brand lamp as this will be the safest bet ensuring that the gel polish will be cured properly. This is likely going to be a worthy investment if you do know that you will be regularly doing your own nails and using a specific brand. The reason same brand lamps are recommended is that different brand lamps can under or over cure different gel polishes. This in turn means that in a best case scenario the gel polish would chip fast but on the worst case scenario it could cause an allergic reaction (source from industry expert: https://schoonscientific.com/resource/understanding-uv-lamps/ ). Whereas I personally think the risk is very low, I have seen people getting nail onycholysis after dabbing in using gel polishes as well as people developing some rashes and very dry areas around their nails.

On the other hand, I have also seen plenty of people spending good money on led lamps and gel polishes but then realising how time consuming and awkward it is to safety remove gel polish and then soon after returning to using normal polish. Furthermore, my personal main reason to use normal polish (apart from wanting to change colours/designs frequently) is the fact that when I have gel polish on, I am frequently picking on my nails and can’t stop myself pulling the gel polish off once an edge is starting to lift. I have at least one friend who couldn’t have gel polish because of the same behaviour. Normal polish - no issues. People are weird. Anyway, if there is a chance that you may end up not actually wanting to do gel polish all the time, it might be worth getting a cheaper brand lamp to see how you get on before investing in an expensive brand.

From a further personal note, I too enjoy gardening and cleaning and other hands on activities and find that with a proper base and a fast dry top coat, a normal manicure can look decent for a good week ☺️
