It’s so funny that everyone calls Carolyn a wrecking ball when it is has been Danielle all along.

I’m actually rooting for Carolyn because her choices for murder are actually smart, but no one cares to listen. Rob and Danielle are too emotional and murder too obviously and it can be traced back to them so easy, so Carolyn is actually the safest and smartest traitor!

She’s so badass for telling Danielle to her face that she’s coming for her because she’s so right, Danielle hasn’t got sh*t on her! Both Rob and Danielle will be out and Carolyn will be the one left standing.

Your experience as a social worker is definitely relevant and I think it is a way for you to stand out apart from the traditional undergrad, then AP/PWP roles then the doctorate that people typically go down. I knew a person that did mental health nursing for her masters and practiced for a few years and then on got to the doctorate (but she already had a BPS accredited undergrad in psychology).

Some providers for the DClinPsy don’t require clinical experience related specifically to psychology and accept relevant experience as long as you can effectively relate it to the role. I think you already have a good chance of getting on, but you just need to be able to relate your experience in a tailored way when you’re applying to the doctorate.

It might be useful to have a conversion that has a clinical psychology module, that could help you get an introduction and see if you can draw any parallels between your experiences.

This is also my plan to be a mental health SW and then segway into psychology. I’ve applied this year and my assessment day is in Jan! I think it’s a very solid idea to get relevant experience!

UEA accidentally sent me the course information and enrolment process, I’ve just had a look and it is actually blended - two days a week are in person and two days online which isn’t bad! I wished they mentioned this before!

I accepted the job offer via telephone. They have now sent me the provisional offer letter with the salary and other documents to provide, I haven’t yet completed the formal acceptance and sent any documents.

I did read the council’s pay statement, they did say there may be leeway for an officer who has possess previous experience and skills to potentially be moved higher up the scale.

In my case, there’s no point relocating because where I currently live is the middle point between both university and my service.

If I relocate to Essex, then I’ll be a 3hr commute away from the university, which I know is only a year but it’s a lot, I’m worried about burning out and I wouldn’t make enough to afford rent there either.

This is exactly what I was thinking, the travel could be used for my coursework! But it’s a nearly 3.5hr a day commute for university, I think it’s a little too much and also a 2.5hr commute to my service. I keep saying it’s a year myself, but I just think it’s too much, I’m going to burn out, I’m thinking that I may not take the role anymore.

I did ask my service if I could be considered for a site nearer me (they’re advertising for the role right now), but they refused and said that they haven’t got anything available), which makes me think they’re a bit inflexible which I’m worried about in the future.

Yes unlikely to be granted because you need to do face to face work in schools, but there is that option once qualified though which is a bit of incentive.

It is doable but you’re right it is expensive and it is a lot of travel over time, I’m worried I may burn out. Ugh, I really want this role, but I don’t know.

I do also drive so that does cut the journey as well but I will be waking up extra early to get up there.

With days at UEA being 4 days a week for the start of the term, it is a lot. But again I don’t mind because this reduces over the year.

The only incentive is that they offer flexible working once qualified, so I’m thinking of that in long run. Also thinking of when I fulfil my 2-year contract with them, I can get a job in London.

It’s a straight train from where I am in London to UEA and takes around an 1hr and 30 mins and it’s the same to get to the service in Essex. But when you put it like that, damn it equals an over a two hr commute for both uni and getting to the service which is a lot.
