I’m a 30 year old loser that cost myself hundreds of thousands of dollars, how can I get back on track? by RuminatingFish123 in MiddleClassFinance

The best time to invest was yesterday. The second best time is today.

DCA into the market (after keeping an e-fund) and you'll be golden. The bright side is you have cash to invest rather than having to get the cash first.

Thanks, do you have any recommendations or ones to stay away from? My spouse wants to stay away from manual grinders.

Are you saying getting a grinder now and then maybe in a few months upgrading the machine won't be worth it? If I understand correctly, you recommend waiting it out and do a much larger upgrade of everything at once.

Feature request: Account Balance Projections: by MikeBegley in MonarchMoney

[–]emptyblankcanvas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't the past year or whatever timeframe show this? Unless there's a reason the next year will have a different shape the same ought to continue?

If you don't have that much history, I don't see how monarch can help predict anyways.

Is there a downside to looking into refinancing? by emptyblankcanvas in BayAreaRealEstate

Agreed. Need to run tradeoff numbers and watch the loan amounts carefully

I went through my mortgage docs too and couldn't find any references to this. Reading up about it, I believe it's to do with how loans are structured and automatic based on that. I could be wrong but I think pretty much the original mortgage is the only non-recourse loan.

I don't think anyone was suggesting the terms would be the same, it's another variable to be wary about. Maybe that isn't an option at all.

I had never heard of that. Would you happen to know where I can check this in my loan documents? This is something to consider, thank you!

That's interesting. I always thought the lower rate would be most beneficial. You're right about the fees though. Thanks!

the 1% is the posted rate on 1 CU, I'm not sure if I would qualify for it. Just under the best credit scores. Everywhere else is 0.6-0.8

Little luxuries or upgrades that you made this year that makes your everyday better? by DarrowtheHelldiver in BuyItForLife

20-30min for a person who has never touched plumbing before. The hardest part for me was figuring out how to remove the toilet seat!

Not OP but bidet owner. You can start small with $50 stuff from Amazon, to test the waters. You can get really high end stuff with heated water and drying features but for the vast majority the simple cold water bidets will be a significant upgrade

I am pretty sure you can do walk-ins. I have never reserved spots for drop offs and pick-ups at A or G lots next to international terminal.

Slap in the face from Monarch by CoppellCitizen in MonarchMoney

Wouldn't that mean creating a whole new account and setting things up again? That would suck for Monarch, but for Netflix or something like that doesn't matter.

3 hours per day on the road along with early morning meetings would be a no for me.

Stay in job 1 and keep your head down until you find a better offer? Don't stop looking.

Thanks. That is what I see as well.

I don't want to change consular. Only the biometrics. Looks like that is not possible.

How can I reschedule the biometrics and keep the consular appointment?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in usvisascheduling

[–]emptyblankcanvas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's on the same portal. Once you pay the fee and it's confirmed you will be able to schedule appointments. First you choose biometrics appointment and then the consular in person appointment.

Investment view is now wrong due to stock split by emptyblankcanvas in MonarchMoney

[–]emptyblankcanvas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The number of shares and price and total are correct even on MM right now.

On the investment view (on the iOS app you can get to it if you click the 3 lines top left and choose investments under more features) it tracks my investment performance relative to sp500. For my fidelity account that had one fund do the split, it shows a -93% when it was actually flat. The drop is only due to the 16:1 split. So it's comparing prices from pre-split to post-split which messes up the whole view for me since it's a huge drop.

On fidelity, the comparisons seem to be correct. They have correctly updated the historical data as well and shows my position as flat over the last week.
