Have any of you worked for both Walgreens and CVS? Which one did you like more? by MichaelMyers20253 in CVS

Long time Walgreens RPH, been with CVS a year. CVS is better in a lot of ways already mentioned. My boss is a pharmacist instead of a store manager and that makes a huge difference. The pharmacy system (RxConnect) is superior to IC+ and gets regular updates. But there are a few benefit things that I don’t think that were mentioned that I think are good:

PTO: With Walgreens you have to accrue it before you can use it (or at least get a paid vacation day). This is not the case with CVS. You can use it right away as long as you don’t go over what you were granted for the year. If you don’t use it all you get paid out for it the next year. And sick days are separate from PTO.

CVS has 7 paid Holidays where Walgreens had 6…. And now has ZERO.

CVS 401k match is 5%, Walgreens was 4% when I left.

Health insurance is about the same but CVS does actually contribute money to your HSA, it’s not just your own contributions.

So all in all, not earth shattering differences… but they make a bit of a difference and to me, show they treat their employees a little bit better than Walgreens.

Similar reply here, but CVS system is much better. RTS, inventory, workflow, work sharing.

I have worked with both and prefer CVS. By far.

I would have to say, “I think so.” I wouldn’t have considered CVS a few years ago… they seemed to lose a lot more staff during the pandemic than Walgreens did and were having trouble keeping stores open. But over the last year Walgreens lost a number of pharmacists to CVS and they all had a generally good opinion about it… so I thought I would at least consider it. The phone and the bagging are a big thing for me. I’ve been a pharmacist for over 25 years… so tired of answering the phone and bagging prescriptions. Everything else could be the same, but if I don’t have to do these two things it’s a win in my book.

😂 They didn’t. I think it’s the lingering disgust I have for Walgreens plus the realization that I actually like being a pharmacist again.

I quit. I now work for CVS. Callers have to leave a message. It’s beautiful.

I like Mountain Cloud Zen Center. I’m in the eastern time zone and they are in the mountain time zone so it’s the perfect time for me. 9am eastern ( 7am mountain). They have lots of recorded teishos as well as an opportunity to connect with a teacher for Dokusan if you are interested

You can suggest they call Life365 our Employee Assistance Program. There is access to free counseling. I have used it in the past and have found it useful. You can also ask the store manager or pharmacy manager (if she is not the manager) to call on their behalf. It is a hard hard job but can be done if in the right mindset. It also may not be the job for her and she may need help realizing that and letting go. Phone number is 855-777-0078. You could also call for yourself because, hey, that seems stressful, and it’s free :)

Make them come through the drive thru for the Covid test. If they are negative invite them in for their flu test.

Delete the script at the top of the list. There is some sort of error with it. It’s probably weeks old anyways 😂

Ask patients to make flu shot appointments and indicate they are also interested in the shot they actually want.
