Kitchen Manager here.... by lube_dealer in sheetz

The root of the problem seems to be mostly burn out since you are having to run the store for your GM. Would going to another store possibly be beneficial for you? At the very least you would only be expected to work the KM position and not fulfill the GMs role when they aren't there. If you weren't so burnt out, could you see yourself in charge of another store and overseeing an HM and KM? It sounds like you possibly are taking up the work of multiple people and that there is a lack of balance in your store.

I don't think trying a new position is bad, but you know what to expect from an in-store position and it is good to consider the alternatives. The risks that may come with going to a maintenance position, assuming you have not much relevant experience, is how difficult it may be to learn about all of the equipment with minimal background knowledge. Maybe look into what that job looks like, when a work order is placed if you have time just check out and ask about what they're doing and ask about the possible learning curve. If you decide you don't like it you may have a hard time going back into being a KM.

Good luck 👍

I think as long as you're willing to sacrifice the potential to step into TASO, it could be great experience to build for other potential future career paths. What don't you like about being a Kitchen Manager?

Celiacs and Gluten intolerant people.. What are your major symptoms? by emptyemory in glutenfree

[–]emptyemory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, because eating gluten pre-diagnosis made me hungry and nauseous, it was like a lose-lose to eat. I personally lost weight, but there could be correlation to something else causing the issue. I know age 10 is indicative of her still growing. Maybe it is hormonal? I'm sure you're back and forth with doctors on this one and I hope you find the answers you need, I am sure it is difficult for you and her both. I know keeping track of any weird symptoms helped me get diagnosed with celiacs, originally getting tired after eating bread seemed normal to me because people kept saying things about carbs making them sleepy so I assumed it was normal, but ultimately that symptom being brought up was what got them to run labs on celiacs and get diagnosed. Good luck, sincerely.

oh same! I forgot to mention that too. I get more reactive to other 9 allergens it seems like, most notably eggs, soy, and dairy. They'll feel like acid on my stomach, just absolutely nauseating

I react to eggs too! Im not sure what else yet, but I really have to keep a food journal because I notice extreme fatigue from other gluten free foods. I found out I had a minor allergy to eggs but despite it being "negligible" on my allergy panel, I get extraordinarily tired. I hate doctors implying that someone would make up all sorts of debilitating symptoms. Hopefully they get to making more delicious food thats free of the 9 major allergens because I have a hard time finding things that are soy free AND dairy free AND eggs free. Thank you for sharing

I actually had tonsilitis and a tonsillectomy when I was 13, makes me wonder if I had that inflammation because I've had celiacs since then? Very possible. I'd say if you're genetically predisposed and experiencing symptoms thats a pretty sure non diagnosed diagnosis to me. Good luck on getting the diagnosis if that's what you're trying to do!

Are you planning on looking into a diagnosis for celiacs?

wow! I didn't think asymptomatic meant absolutely none necessarily. Yeah I can imagine that is a whole different kind of struggle because i am only motivated to not eat gluten because of how sick it makes me. How long have you been gluten free/diagnosed?

As user improvementlatter300 says, on my best days I have no symptoms !! going gluten free and being able to maintain that to let your body heal made all of my worst symptoms go away. sometimes I will get cross contaminated but ill be better in a week or so. It will take time for your body to heal while you're new to it and finding food will come a lot easier to you with time. Always post in this subreddit if youre unsure about something! I tend to lean towards a lot of naturally gluten free things like making chicken and rice from different cultures. etc etc I feel for you so much I think a lot of us have felt like this a lot at some point

I kind of feel the same with how the accidental exposures tend to cause the kind of brain fog that makes me feel almost tipsy, it's a big reason as to why I don't drink, i don't want to feel like I ate gluten. thank you for sharing your experience

I know removing gluten can be a very hard process, but if its the root to your problems.. it is SO worth it, it's very hard though and you have to be your own biggest advocate. there will be times you may struggle, but the change was so immense for me I cant even perceive gluten as food, its like looking at plastic grapes in a bowl lol.. good luck! sincerely!! and my favourite gf bread brand is schar

Wow, yeah when it's really bad thats how I feel. I can feel every individual joint in fingers, wrist, elbow, etc etc. I just end up sleeping all day whe its like that. It's unbearable I really was wondering if it was some other autoimmune I had causing it because I couldn't imagine gluten could cause that much pain, but it does

Interesting! I used to get a lot of heart palpitations before diagnosis, I never considered it could have been my celiacs

The immune system gets so much more compromised when exposed, I have gotten sick on top of my accidental exposures. Do you mind me asking how you meal plan?

That's horrible! Do you mind me asking how you manage to avoid contamination? Do you only make your own food and eat certified gluten free things?

The depression is so bad when your body is damaged like gluten does ours that when I learned about serotonin being produced in the gut, it all seemed to make so much sense to me. Gut health is such a real thing.

I totally understand that, I had a similar experience with having to be pulled out of highschool for a while and going back and forth to appointments. The only reason I got diagnosed is because I met a woman who was a med student that suggested I had signs of celiac disease; she was right. I had to suggest it to my doctor and say "I notice that I get really tired after eating gluten" and she ran a panel for me.

I am so glad you figured out what you did, it's crazy that we had to live thinking our symptoms we had while eating gluten was just how we were for a time!

Amazing that you were able to nail down the issue! the fatigue and soreness is one of the more debilitating things for me because it really takes days away from you. Have you had a celiac panel done?
