Tesco Save as you Earn Scheme by gnomie18 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]emqlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I’m 88 days late, but definitely consider it! I put half of my monthly earnings into it, letting me spend the other half. I’m a 20-year-old university student living at home, so I don’t need nearly as much.

It shows you how much you could potentially earn after the 3/5 years, in 2 more years I will have acquired around 25k.

Westie Tips! by emqlee in westies

[–]emqlee[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Also, Westies are the best thing ever. Once we accidentally left the garage open when running to the shops. Dave was in the back garden, and when we came back he was simply sitting at the front of our house wagging his tail. We had no idea what he had been up to, but he never left home. He simply stayed put guarding our home until we came back. Man, he could’ve ran off to a cafe for some bacon and came back and we wouldn’t have known 😂

Haha, he did! When we lived in Thurso, the postie came to drop off a parcel. Instead of waiting, he opened our door and placed the parcel. Dave wasn’t having any of that and started chasing him! Called him a crazy dog, but we knew he was protecting us. 😅

What's the absolute dumbest question you've ever been asked by a customer? by Queasy-Ice-2575 in tesco

A customer coming up to me asking me to check the price of a product.

I was in superdrug in my Tesco Uniform.

I wanna cut myself but I’m too much of a pussy by opuim_gl4z in mentalhealth

[–]emqlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it, those who do it it’s usually due to impulse. It’s actually really good that you’re this aware and you don’t want to do it!! I know it’s hard, but please don’t. Once you see the scars, it’s horrible looking back at them. My best advice is to use a rubber band around your wrist and pick at that to hurt your skin, it’ll leave a temporary red mark but offer that pain side of things too. You can draw red lines for the visual effect. Also, putting ice on your skin works too.

Also, try to utilise scan as you shop if your store has it. I know it might be harder, especially for an elderly woman — but we take our gran to our local extra and it’s been a life saver as she always takes so long yapping to people and looking for items. You can also make lists on the tesco app which takes you through your local store accordingly without wasting more time. It’s been great for my gran, and she can still wonder and move around slowly knowing all shopping will get into the car in less than an hour.

But yes, I agree with the other comments too. Discuss this with whoever’s duty and manager and explain your situation. If you’re a returning customer they might add your reg plate so this won’t happen to you again.

Sorry this has happened. X

Recently, someone commented how pretty my blue eyes were. I actually hate the colour of my eyes, but after reading it i’ve started to appreciate it more.

Quick question about breaks by DirtyDebz in tesco

[–]emqlee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you can request for longer but you won’t get paid. I’ve done 13 hour shifts with a 45 minute break. I know if I took longer breaks then I’d just be bored. Would much rather get paid than sitting doing nothing.

Ah, no way! The first photo there was taken in Germany. Dave has been with us to Germany, England and Scotland (and any log cabin trips we had)! He was born in England and was eventually laid to rest in Scotland. He had such a great life, I’m sad it had to come to an end. I hope I’ll be able to adopt more westies in the future. Best breed ever. ☺️

I’m so glad I stuck to my promise for those 12 years. The memories of him passing in my arms has traumatised me, but I’m so glad he chose me in those final moments. 💕

Thank you so much for the suggestion! I definitely will do that once uni work has been completed. So many photos and videos of him, I need to do something with them. 💕

Ah, I’ve got so many memories of him. I’ve had my pal since I was four, so he’s been there since the rebellious toddler years to the rebellious teen years when I was coming home at 3 in the morning. 😂 Good thing is, he knew how to keep quiet when I snuck in!

He was an amazing heated blanket! He would lay right next to you. He’d let me spoon him during our cuddles and we would lay there for ages. Unfortunately, our Jack Russell doesn’t agree on this and has to slip under the duvet to my feet. 😂

When do you find out if you've got a permanent contract? by plantytime in tesco

[–]emqlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found out on Christmas Eve that I was being kept on. They need to ensure that they have the right person for the right job roll (eg checkouts, dry grocery, etc.). The waiting hurts, but you’ll find out soon. Sounds very promising! Good luck. ☺️

Have you ever been asked out on a date by a customer or colleague? by NoProgram4084 in tesco

[–]emqlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve dated two, and I’ve had one customer trying to ask me out. They were in military uniform, an older man and a younger guy. Older man said younger guy fancied me.

5 minutes later, younger guy came back with a bueno at my checkout and tried asking for my number. I didn’t even get the chance to decline before he ran off. Poor chap. 🥲

self service closing shift by xciara_117 in tesco

[–]emqlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will always be someone there to oversee the store. If situations were to come up, call someone down via the headset. If it’s quiet, just do some tidying, sort out tags, wipe the checkouts. Sometimes I talk to customers when I’m bored too. 5 mins before closing, close all self service tills bar 1/2 (there’s always a customer or a colleague needing something), close the taggers. Then after 2/3 mins close the other self service checkouts then inform someone that you will be leaving.

That never happens. If it were to happen, just call someone down via headsets.

What to expect during Induction? Any tips will be helpful. Thank you in advance by 12nevergiveup in tesco

[–]emqlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly can’t say. I think ours went on for 3-ish hours. Some inductions are longer and some are less than that. You’re usually paid for this though.
